The question is flawed.Think of prayer more as open dialoge between you and God. Now God makes it clear to us he is not here to be a geni in a bottle. So my answer is, is that most likely God would ignore such a plea as to win a poker game, for God answers prayers that are in line with his will and desire for our lives, not our own. Now.. on the other hand,.. Lets say you prayed to win a poker game, and God choses to use the winning experience/path for what he wants done, then yes, it would be God. That of course does not take away free-will.. because while he may change the luck of the cards, anyone can be a moron. and also you didnt have to play poker in the first place.. anyways sorry i went on a tirade
and BTW, everything needs to be put in context. Life is a gamble.. a lot of jobs rely on some form of gambling. Not letting anything take the place of God in your life is whats important. so yes "true" christians can play poker,.. and even bet money doing it,.. it's fun, its a game.. generally better entertainment then a movie these days and for a 5 dollar game a heck of a lot less expensive.

In football or other sports, or poker, people often pray to their God for guidance. He is there as a motivator, a guidance, and a protector within your mind and your heart. I don't believe that God influences the game.
It is luck and chance and perhaps some skills on your part to win.

The poker gods are different to the 'other' gods people get so excited about.
I believe that the poker gods hear your prayers for river cards. Why not? It's as likely as any other kind of prayer being answered.

Well, Honey, God never put much stock into gambling, His creation is pretty much ordered and governed by principles he ordained, such as physics and mathematics, so as far as you winning, the odds were preordained too, seeing as both laws even govern gambling. However, the same laws would also pre-ordain yous losses as well. It all depends on time, which is also governed by Him sense He is without beginning nor ending. So He was there before you began to play, was there while you played and knew the outcome of your play before you were even born. But, as far as having a direct influence on how your play ended, no. He has no respect for "lotteries'. They drew "lots" for His Son's clothing at His death. It was not a good thing to do. Even though there was no money involved, principles are principles.
