Some times couples break up for reasons other than "hate each other" stuff like, maybe she moved away and he could not go with her. Which may mean they still care for one another. That's "all good" as long as she's in another country. I would not feel very secure if she moved back.

What kind of guy gets financial support from an ex? Better her money than yours I say. If shes dumb enuf to pay him let her.
At least hes honest about it... Id be more worried if hed tried to keep it a secret. It is possible for them to be just friends... but make sure its JUST financial support.
Then again I just had a thought - he could be trying to make you jealous so YOULL give him money to make his ex 'go away'. Whatever you do, DO NOT be tempted to lend him any money.
Better to try and help him help himself, by finding a job or whatever.
Once hes back on his feet therell be no need for the ex to give him any more money. Then youll know whats really going on either way.

She is not really an "ex" anything. She exists in his his life now. She may be in another country, but the feelings are still there. He may deny it, but receiviving monies and messages is not leaving anything in the past.
There may come a time when she may no longer be in another country, but there. She might just want to collect on her "investment" one day.
