Aside from the Elmer Fudd crowd present that thinks no one should have anything other than a muzzle loader one person made a good point about safety.Your responsible for every round you fire.Another thing is that you should have respect for the animal your'e hunting and do everything in your power to ensure a clean quick kill. Also, most automatic weapons of a heavy enough calibre for elk will be alot to hump around and to use a lesser caliber such as 5.56 or 9mm will not ensure a clean kill. Now i'm sure your'e talking out of your *** because iv'e met alot of good people who've gone through the trouble and expense to acquire a full auto who would be VERY upset if you were to suggest such a thing as to "light up" a game animal without regard for sporting ethics. At best your'e just a poser with a Red Ryder trying to stir things up but asinine comments like this reflect poorly on all gun owners.

* The 30-06 using fact making use of a 220 grain Barnes sturdy bullet whilst even looking a Bull Cape Buffalo in Africa it is going to penetrate 40 inches of Bone and Muscle to Drop it with one shot.* whilst hand loaded the 30-06 making use of a 26 inch barrel might have the comparable velocity and function as a 300 H&H Magnum.* try doing that with a 308.* The 30-06 possibly on no account would be excelled as an all around rifle for American vast game, and a few African vast game Animals.*..

It's not that your'e hunting elk with an auto it's that you possess an auto and it could be used for the wrong reasons
plus if you can't kill it with a single action rifle you need some practice

Are you sure you can't? Depends on what state you're in. I doubt many states have laws concerning full auto for hunting, as long as the gun is legal to own in the state and you got the federal stamp, might be ok. Check into it anyway.

Why should you? Are you that bad a shot that you need twenty rounds to do the job of one? The best guns aren't the ones with heavier firepower. The best ones are used by the best shots.
Must not like elk meet to chew it up before it's slaughtered.

If you can't take a game animal down with one clean shot than you should either A) spend more time at the range or B) stay the hell out of my woods. Full auto is for Rambo and he's a pansy.

You must mean simi-auto. as a full auto are called machine guns. unload 30rnds into that elk and see how much meat is left
A bolt action is much more accurite and can handle stronger loads.
ONE SHOT , ONE KILL

If you are a true sportsmen you would need anything more than one shell in your gun. Buy a muzzleloader so the rest of us will be safer in the woods from crazies like you
