I have a PDF book on my laptop. However when I open it on another computer it does not open. Is there a method I can use, maybe change the format, to enable me to take the ebook on any computer?

if the ebook is in a .pdf format you can go to www.adobe.com and download the pdf reader called acrobat reader, it's free but it's a faily large file.

If it is copy protected you will have to call the author or seller and see if there is a way to copy it to anoter computer you own.

but most likely you will need to download the acrobat software to each computer it will be copied to.

I hope this helps

It depends on by the format you will choose:
1)if you choose doc(ument) format you can use it in any type of OS, with the standart document reader. But it doesn't support images, special characters e.t.c.
2)if you choose p(resentation)d(ocument)f(ile) format, created most of the times by Adobe(r) Acrobat(r) professional, you can find Acrobat reader for most of the OS.
3)if you choose r(ich)t(ext)f(ormat), then you must have a alternative suite of document reading and writing, but in almost all of the OS there is a suite to use with.
I think you must choose between these three protocols.

As long as the file is in .pdf format all you need is to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on any PC, Laptop, Palm, etc. that you use to read it. As long as Reader is installed the file will open and be able to be read.

Adobe Acrobat Reader is a free download from www.adobe.com

for Windows OS http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

for Mac OS http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2_allversions.html
then select correct version and language and click Continue.
