if abortion for a woman is murder because the fetus is alive then is masturbation for a guy mass-genocide because the sperm has the ability to create life and, believe it or not, actually is a life form its self?

Yours balls develop and reproduce sperms every 70 days. By time you are 18, you would have about 200 million sperms in your balls, if you did not use them.

Every year, about 1% of your unused sperms die naturally. Even, if you have sex regularly, by the time you are 80, you are expected to still have about 60 million sperms in your balls.

What are you planning to do with so much sperms??? Drown George Bush???

This is a good question and it brings good discussion.

One person made the comment that the sperm die in male body anyway if not used. Would that be death due to neglect? Also, a woman has an egg die every month and her body gets rid of it, is this too murder? If the egg is not used, then it dies on its own.

Also, someone said that its not murder until there is a heartbeat. An unborn embryo does not have a heart beat for the first like 12 weeks or more of life. Does that not make it a human? Or is it not murder if it is aborted at this time?

Many questions can arise from the logic in all this.

These are just my ramblings.. enjoy.

No because sperm needs a woman's egg to form a fetus. Sperm may be "alive" but they do not have all of the genetic information they need to stay alive, that is why a man's body continually reabsorbs and makes new sperm and that is why a woman has her monthly cycle- to get a new egg- because neither alone has what it takes to survive the body of the host.

It could be classified as premeditated general human genocide possibility because genocide is the killing off of a certain group of people.
Since the sperm are not humans yet, you can't kill them off, and you don't know if you are attacking a certain group within that sperm, but you could say it was premediated genocide based on the possibility the sperm would create life. Then your certain group would be the sperm itself.

i'm going to say no, because sperm alone cannot create life. it's not until the sperm and egg unite that an embryo is formed, so technically, even the morning after pill shouldn't be as controversial as it is....(i'm not saying that its usage is right or wrong, just that it's really no different than regular birth control, condoms, or even masturbation....)

It gets worse. Onan was not slain for masturbation but for coitus interrumptus -- withdrawal.

The Religious Right in the USA has an agenda in which the abolition of abortion is only the first part. The real goal is to roll back all the Supreme Court decisions on privacy in the bedroom and make homosexual conduct severely punishable. And to roll back the Supreme Court decision on contraception and ban that too.

Warren Jeffs' views on the purpose of sex (but not on the plurality of wives) are quite close to what the pro-life people want. Including getting women out of the workplace and putting them back in the home, barefoot and pregnant.

No. The fytus is a living baby, not a cell. Sperm are just cells that are not going to develop into babies alone. Even at sex, millions of them die and one finds the egg, if ever. That's how nature made them.

Well from the catholic point of view Masturbation is a sin. This is because all 'giving' should be fit into one of these 2 categories which are 'love giving' or 'life giving'. This is also why catholics are encouraged to be chaste.

Not by a long shot. That's like equating potential to do something to actually doing it. The argument is fallacious.
