Unfortunately, they will probably only continue to add to your suspension. Let me guess, the original was for DUI? I wonder when the courts will start actually locking people up for it the first time, instead of the 20th (or after some poor schmuck gets killed by the drunk driver).

If you are being charged under the Highway Traffic Act, you could loose your license for up to 2-3 more yrs. + 6 mos. in jail if your 1st. suspension was for DUI.
If they want to they can charge you under the Criminal Code if this ticket is for driving DUI while under suspension. If this is the case you are in for a rude awakening in court.
The fact that the Police didn't take U to jail tells me you were only ticketed for driving under suspension. In any case the Judge will look at all your court appearance(if any & whatever for) before he decides on what punishment is deemed in the public's best interest regarding your driving record & whatever else.
In the meantime I think U are going to pay dearly for driving while under suspension, whether it be monatarily, jail time or both.
I do hope you learned a valuable lesson from this encounter with the law, as you are lucky no-one was injured or worst killed due to your stupidity.

My son got his second driving on a suspended license two years ago in Illinois. The judge sentenced him to 1 year in the state prison. He served a little over 4 months there. He was then on parole for 1 year following his prison term.
