I need to do a 10 page research paper for my English Composition class, and I chose to do Teens and Substance Abuse, but that seems waaay too general. So, I think I may change it to all about one drug.. but I don't know which one. I'm thinking methamphetamine because (at least I think this is right) it is one of the most widely used and deadliest drugs in the United States today.
What do you think would be the best to do my report on? What drug would you want to know more about? Why?

Methamphetamine is a great drug to write on because it is so widely used among society today, especially among students who are using it to study. Also, it has very interesting history behind it. It was actually developed to be used by soldiers so that it can enhance their ability to stay focused, fight fatigue and reduce hunger etc. Meth use is the fastest growing drug abuse in U.S. today and as you said, one of the most deadliest (Addictive) substance out there. I think you will enjoy researching about it and will offer valuable lessons to those in your class if you are willing to share your findings. Good luck.

As a college student I did many reports on drug use in today's society by teens and adults. I chose to do my paper on which ever drug was being popular in the news and so on.
I would honestly say that if I had to do a report about this I would choose methamphetamine. In today's society it is the most popular drug of choice and is killing and putting people in jail in rapid numbers daily. I'm sure there is an abundant number of articles on the drug itself, crime rates, death rates, and other statistics like how popular its become in recent years. Along with these you may choose to discuss just some of the chemical make up on the drug and the effects it has on the human body or other vital organs itself within the body. This would probably be the best drug to do a paper on because of the information I'm sure is out there, the popularity of it, the growing fear of it taking over residential areas and so forth. Papers on weed are over did, I think your teacher would find that you took it a step further and instead of doing a paper on a drug most everyone picks you choose a drug that has became a growing problem in society today. methamphetamine is a great topic to do a paper on. I wrote a 12 page paper on it in college, you'll be amazed at the amount of information you can find on it. And you are right, it is the fastest growing, most addictive, and most commonly found drug in America today. You can write on how it is made, the reaction that long term users have, how it has gotten so popular, how it started, your options are endless.

I would do it on alcohol. It is far more widely used and not always by "bad" kids, but by a lot of kids. The dangers are many, but few are aware of any dangers. A lot of kids think as long as you don't drive, it is ok. They have no idea how many more dangers there are. Also, it is the easiest drug for children to get a hold of and abuse. I won't go into all the dangers of alcohol consumption, but you can look into it. I took a college course on drug use in America, and was shocked to learn that alcohol is one of the most harmful drugs out there. Good luck with your report!

i definitly agree to do it on crystal meth. you should watch the 2 part Oprah special about these wealthy young girls who became addicted to it. I think it is a good drug to do a report on because it is now the number one choice of drug in america.
