the disabled gentleman I take care of has a large area of bright red swollen, blachy skin & the extreme areas are hardened -- this has never happened before help

it is not bed sores - but he does have very poor blood circulation and is a quad, so has no feeling in the affected area

I looked carefully and there are no bite marks from our cat or insect wise --- and I am positive we have no fleas in the house

There are other types of skin sores other than "bed sores". It sounds just like a skin ulcer. If he has poor circulation and this has surfaced he needs to see a Doctor. It could even be a spider bite,ect. But waiting could be dangerous. I would call and make an appointment for him first thing in the morning.

I don't know. It could be a result of something going on internally. I would call his doctor's office and speak to the nurse.
