the national anthem is "Jana Gana Mana..."
the national song is "Sare jahan se acha..."
now why stir up trouble by making things compulsary, forcing people to say what they do not want to say? The sond "Vande Matram" has got lyrics such as "we worship the motherland" "we bow to her" "we mark our foreheads with her soil", all of which are against the very basic teachings of Islam.
tell you what. since you insist on changing the national song, I propose - "Hey Mickey you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind hey Mickey!" Wanna put it to a vote bro?

Vande Matram, or any Patriotic Song for that matter is based on Bodily Designation ... That you are Indian..
But in Bhagavad Gita, this is the first thing Criticized. Ever lining Entity is not the Body but Spiritual Soul.
Creating a Government and a Border, Politicians Group their Supporters only for their own Profit..
But the land is the same. The whole Earth belongs to God and every living entity is Part and parcel of God.. This is the teaching of Bhagavad Gita..
Why only Vande India and let other Country go to Hell? Just because some idiots have created a Border ?
This is not accepted in Bhagavad Gita and India being a place where there are many followers of Bhagavad Gita, this Imposition of Atheistic Song is not accepted..
You may feel my answer as very harsh but that’s what Bhagavad Gita teaches..

what does that mean -- "Vande mataram"
and that is not ur National song. Indian's National song is
Jana Gana Mana, Adhinayaka jaye he ............
its a shame to see that an Indian like u does not know what his National song is, when people living abroad can say the thruth.
i just got some info about "Vande mataram". but it isnt as patriotic as jana gana mana. it only speaks of motherland, whereas, jana gana mana not only describes the beauty of India, its ethinicity as well as how united indians are inspite of its diversity.
i really feel sorry for Indians who cant see this concept of - unity in diversity. or is it that u dont want to beleive in unity? sorry but its a real shame. no country has ever tried replacing its National anthem until now, i guess. and for someone like me who is is a foreigner (i got this info from some of my indian feinds) to explain this to u is more sad.

Much debated topic. This was supposed to be the anthem at one time, but was decided otherwise. In recent times there has been an uproar in a section of inhabitants against the singing of the same. Debate continues. We have politicians in our country today but lack statesmen.

first of all a little GK for merissa(first answerer) that india's national anthem is "Jan Gan Man" and national song is "Vande Mataram".
now d controversy behind making vande matram as compulsary is d objection by indian muslims. but it is very unfortunate.
the issues raised by muslims is:
islam dont permit d worship of any other thing except allah (not even motherland).
answers 2 these points:
1.if d worship of motherland is not permitted in islam than its my request 2 all my muslim brothers is 2 listen d national songs/anthems of islamic countries like bangladesh , indonesia etc. which clearly reflect d worship of motherland.even couple of words of pakistan's national anthem refers d worship of land. this means that d people of bangladesh and indonesia r not muslims. hahaha
2.if a worship of anything except allah is forbidden in islam then y:
->bismillah khan sung and played d shahnayi on "vaishnav jan to tene kahiye" while sitting in baba vishwanath mandir.
->pakistani singer mahandi hasan do saraswati prayer b4 singing
->even iqbal wrote "sare jahan se acha hindustan hamara" where "jahan means universe". he even reffered 2 lord ram as "imame hind"
->raskhan was a devotee of lord krishna and said "chandi ke mahal kanhaiyya par nauchavar"
->taj bibi said "Lam ke manind hai gesu mere ghanshyam ke".
were all of them not muslims or anti-islamic.
it is not muslim mentality , infact it is muslim league mentality.
i know all indian muslims respect their motherland and can die 4 it. its has happened only bcoz of some political interest of parties.

it has got element of worshipping mother-land, which is totally unacceptable by Islam. u can respect ur country, love ur mother-land, die for its defence but can Never worship it.
