The devil is not in your heart, but manipulates it easily because its closer to your flesh and all flesh spiritually consists of original sin. If the evil bastard is in your heart then something is possessing you. (This means you are weak in some certain aspect of your life.) You need to fight it with love.

The devil cannot physically "occupy" your heart. However he can "posses" your body. I do believe that that is just a figure of speech.
Please do not take this literally.
I hope you believe in god, spirits (both angels and demonds) and in the devil/satan, these are all very REAL, in the world we live in!!!

assuming devil exists, do you think the devil is eternally evil? if not, maybe it is good for you to love him, maybe he needs to be loved .. .or maybe he is there to take away something evil . ..maybe the devil collects evil that got trapped there because you breathed, and someone misinterpreted the bible as he IS evil rather than he GATHERS evil to keep it away from us. kind of like a bumblebee . .then he goes away and heals the evil that he collected so it wouldnt hurt you. it's vain to think -this book right here- has been perfectly translated and contains all wisdom with no misunderstood concepts

here is the thing, devil is just an excuse made by6 religious people to point their guilt. in a way, yes the devil is in your heart. you can never destroy it but you can chain it so that it does not do any sin. "IT" being you, me and everyone else.

Yes and in everyone's heart. Phsychologists like Hal & Sidra Stone in their book Embracing Our Selves say he is called our shadow self. It is an aspect of our personality we must acknowledge and embrace and ignore at our peril. If we deny its existence it will find ways to surface and bite us on the bum.

Jesus cast a demon out of a young man and warned the disciples, if the heart was not put right and filled with Christ, then 7 bigger and stronger demons would come and move in. Posession is real, though if Christ is for us, whom shall we fear.
