My hubby gave me a heart locket, which contains our daughter's birthstone (ruby). I think what you are doing is very sweet. You will be a great father.

Well I don't know what your budget is, but diamonds are always appropriate! Or, perhaps something that incorporates the birthstone of the month of your daughter's birth.

That said, gifts from the heart often have the most meaning. A framed picture of you and your wife from during the pregnancy, perhaps on parchment with a poem you composed, a scrapbook of your life to this point with space for additions once baby arrives...such gifts are unique and trust me, us women eat them up. ;)

Finally, a gift certificate for a massage, hair cut/highlight, manicure and/or pedicure or other pampering is ALWAYS appreciated by new moms. While we're getting back in shape, a little spoiling goes a long way towards creating that wonderful, loving environment which will become the foundation for the new family unit. When Momma's happy....EVERYBODY's happy.

Congratulations and good luck!

Buy her a mother's ring, but when having it made, be sure to leave space for other stones to be added in case more children come. Then if you have more children, at the birth, present her with the same ring holding the new stone....she'll love it. My husband did that and it's something I will never ever forget. It also adds a bit of a story when it's handed down through the generations.

A vasectomy? Just kidding! Actions are better than gifts in my opinion. Always be willing to change the diaper. Wake up with her in the night to take care of the baby. Be the best husband and father you can be, that is the best gift...and the most lasting and treasured.

It's tough because right now she may be in a lot of pain, overwhelmed and not want to be away from the baby. Until you guys get a little more settled I would say when the baby goes to sleep (act fast because it may not last long) some good foot/back/shoulder rubs and just tell her how beautiful she looks (having a baby makes you very self concious). Tell her you love her and you know she'll make an excellent mother.... and just pamper her. Trust me, she'll remember this forever.

i don't have kids...but my sister has 5 so I'm pretty good with this question...so i think something like a charm bracelet will a charm to represent the new baby is perfect...its something that is special and every charm added makes it even better...you also could do a locket with the babies birthday engraved on the back...whatever you do don't get her a gym membership or something like that...i know a few guys that thought that was a smart idea and they ended up on the couch for weeks...

Bill,
Yes, they have this lovely
gold trinkets in the shape
of little girls or boys. Some
even have the corresponding
stone(gem) of the month they
were born.
You place it a gold chain, and
as you both have more babies
you keep adding them.
It is really neat and haven't
met one woman yet who does
not like it. Plus kids love to
see their Moms 'wearing' them.
Good luck and Congratulations,

My husband gave me a necklace 25 years ago when my son was born. Then I got a charm to put on it when the other 2 were born. I wear it daily.

A necklace that says, "Mom".

Maybe jewelry with your daughter's birthstone on it? Jewelers have pretty good ideas for this kind of thing, also florists...

Awww that's very sweet. I've never heard of anyone doing that before. I think she would be pleased with anything you come up with since you sound like a heartfelt kind of guy.
