usually if it is cracked the price of getting a new screen is probably 75-85% of getting a new laptop, all you'll ahve to do is store your data and when you get a new computer transfer it back.. how is it damaged? hinges or cracked screen or what?

TFT/LCD Screens of the laptops are costly , as many pointed out they cost nearly 25-40 % of the total laptop cost depending up the model and brand.
The best solutions are
1. Look around for some one whos similar laptop model is beyond repair except the LCD/TFT.
2. Try Laptop repair centres, but dont go to the showrooms or authorised service centre they chages will be hefty...
3. Sell what ever is left and buy a new one

Hunt down the 1-800 number for the company's customer support. They can give you information on whether or not they can repair it, and how much it will cost if they can. If your warranty is still good, they may repair it for free. Good luck. :)

I called a repair center that fixes laptops and asked that question.
She quoted me about 200 dollars.

What Exact happened? Is it broken or s/w might corrupted? If the Display has gone (its fallen) then, no need to repair u can purchase new to that cost only.
