If Catholics Pray to Mary and say they don't pray to her then why do they ask A dead woman to help them pray to god, when Dead People Can't Talk. and I have never looked at A picture and talked to it or prayed to it or asked it to pray for me.

If she such A great saint that you ask to pray for you as an intercessor you are asking someone other than god for your prayers to be answered, and that is idol worship, and Mary is no god and she should not even be A part of your prayers.

Well everybody should worship their mother or ask her as your interessor because she gave birth to each of you, its the same B.S. your telling me about mary.

Mary is not full of grace , God is the only one who gives grace. God will have grace on whom he will have grace.

So to sum it up you have to pray to A rosary to pray to mary and then pray to mary to pray to God. Are you sure I'm not missing anybody or do I have to pray to something else to pray to the rosary then Mary then god and who do I pray to after god because i'm really confused now.

Let me lay it out for you like this, the way it was laid out for me before I converted to catholicism last year. In question of mary and the saints being "prayed to," . Let's say that you are sick or are having trouble in your family, so you then ask your friends, pastor, and anyone else to pray for you....aka prayer warriors. The same concept applies with mary and the saints. The prayer goes,
hail mary full of grace, the lord is with thee, blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy mary mother of God (jesus) PRAY FOR US SINNERS now and at the hour of our death.
The first sentence of that is taken from the nativity story, when the angel gabriel came to visit mary. So that part is just quoting the bible. The next part is just asking her to pray for us. She is a prayer warrior.
Even though people are dead, consider if it was your grandmother or someone that is close to you, don't you still talk to that person and hope that they're watching over you? Same thing here. Also we give mary what she is due because she was favored among all others to give birth to Christ. You have to admit that she would be a wonderful woman to do so.
I will say that like in every sect of Christianity you have people who take things completely the wrong way. Thus catholics get the bad reputation as being idle worshipers because some people will put mary over jesus. That is a human error. It was never intended to be that way. Hope this helps.

I read this book called The Two Babylons by Alexander Hislop, and you can see the origin of Mary worship stems from a pagan religion.
It's actually not even in the Bible. Nowhere!
If you read the Bible, it will tell you it is wrong to worship anything in form, picture, beads, dead people, etc.
The site link I put below is something you can look at for some info on Mary worship. I don't go to that church or anything, but I found it helpful to see how a certain church is founded on paganistic doctrine rather than biblical doctrine. Is there really such a thing as paganistic doctrine...probably not, but it's definately not in the Bible. You don't need help to pray to God.

Well, different countries' Roman Catholics treat Mary differently. The only similarity we share is we acknowledge that Jesus wouldn't have existed if she hadn't been selfless, pure and obeyed God.

My church, for instance, acknowledges Mary as the mother of Jesus but we don't treat her as a deity. The priests mention about her acts of sacrifice and obedience to God during sermons to remind us that we need to follow in her footsteps as Catholics. That's all.

We don't idolise her or hug her statue because that's no different from idol worship.

Mary is the mother of God and is not just a 'dead woman'. Catholics pray the Rosary to pray to Mary.

The Only Way to GOD the Father is through "Jesus Christ"!
When the Apostles asked Christ, "How should We Pray"? He answered with what we call today 'The Lords Prayer"! I don't remember anything being said about his Mother in that Prayer, or asking her for "Guidance"! You can Only Pray Through Jesus. As HE Was the ULTIMATE Sacrifice! Only HE Can Give Us Guidance. Christ IS THE ONLY INTERCESSOR! The Saints are All DEAD, and waiting for the end of days, at this time they can't help anyone, you might as well pray through your DEAD CAT!!

Mary is dead. Jesus is our only intercessor for prayer.

Dont worry about catholicism, it's principles are not biblical.

It took out the 2nd commandment from its catechisms for this very reason.

Exo 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
Exo 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

If you will finish the prayer Hail Mary, you will understand it for what it is,recognition of her holiness and her role in our having a Savior,Jesus. She is the mother of Jesus. It also ask that she pray for us. Do you not ask others to pray for you? Who better than the mother of our Savior?
Hail Mary, full of grace, The Lord is with thee, blessed is the fruit of thy womb,Jesus.Hail Mary pray for us sinners, now and at the time of our death.

I guess the question is do you have faith or pray at all? Perhaps you do not understand prayer and faith if you do not have it. Yeah I pray to Mary and I am Catholic. I pray to her because it helps me. I pray because it comforts me. I pray because she is a mother. She is a Model mother and the Mother of Jesus. I am not representing all Catholics, I am just one person.
If you cannot understand faith and prayer you will probably not be able to understand why one would pray to anyone at all. Different people have different beliefs and different ways of expressing faith and leading the best life they can. We all have ways of dealing with life. If you do not have faith you cannot understand. I pray to Mary because it helps me and she is important to me.
Please realize this is just me. I am just one person who is effected by Mary. I do not represent all people of the Catholic faith. I do not represent anyone except myself.
I wish you could learn to be tolerant to others and varying belief systems. I wish you could express your questions without disdain and anger. I wish you could learn to ask a question without rudeness and judgment just with a quest for understanding and learning. You do not need to believe how another does.

A. They believe Mary was sinless since she carried Jesus who was sinless.

B. They look at her as like a serogate prayer messenger; that we are not worthy enough to just pray in the name of Jesus.

C. Dead people can talk, otherwise God wouldnt have commanded the Israelites in Deuteronomy 18:10 not to contact the dead.

God help them!
