This is a very tricky question or its maybe you who is complecating the matter. Follow these steps carefully.
Step 1: Is this LOVE you are mentioning is one sided love or both sided? If both of you friends are imagining only then come down to earth and take opinion from the girl.
Step 2: Does the girl love you both at the same time? Here in India it is rare though not impossibe. In that case you discussed with your friend first, what is his feelings towards the girl. In this type of cases friends generally sacrifice.
Step3: Suppose, your friend told you after discussion that he won't back-up. Then, observe the girl whom she prefers more. Discuss with your friend with honesty. This way you will find out whether the girl is playing both of you or not.
Step4: Finally in the last phase, suppose you conclude that the girl does not love you the way you think. Then let them go their way gleefully. And ask the girl to find a match for you too. Same is applicable to your friend also.
