My fiance and I have worked out whats best for us. Her and I don't live together so she'll try to hang out with friends on the weekends when it's that time. We don't see too much of eachother during the week.
She'll also e-mail me a week or so ahead of time non-chalantly saying that's she's feeling a little bad because her time is coming up and kind of hint what days she thinks it will be, or tell me that she can't wait until next weekend when she will feel a lot better. I can kind of prepare myself to know there is no shimmy time. We also will rondesvous during the week at times if we know it's coming up.
The one thing I hated so much is not knowing anything, start kissing and then all of a sudden I'm in the mood and bam....it's that time.
If I'm prepared I can hang. It's really helped with communication and made things easy for the both of us. Communication is the key.
Some of the answers I see so far are pretty insensitive and harsh but that's what are society has become I guess.

I would say exactly that (and have) that your Aunt Flow is visiting and use a lot of facial, hand expressions while talking. If he doesn't get it then say - well how would you feel about pulling out a bloody stump? LOL for real! He can't be that dense and besides it's a natural part of life......lighten up Francis you only live once! Prude/crude what's it matter?

It's not a big deal, and I doubt most men are going to think that you're a prude or crude for telling them. It happens to us all! Just tell him that you can't cause you're on the rag, but you can take care of him another way... they never mind that answer!

Don't be cute or try to be funny, just tell him straight out in simple language that he can understand. Sometimes us guys can be fairly stupid.
If he can't take that then tell him to go home and talk to his mother about the birds and the bees. Women should not have to hide behind jokes for something that is natural.

Well just come out and tell him. no since in beating around the bush....Most guys know about her visit anyway. If you tell him she is here he will totally understand. Any guy who dosent understand dosent need anything anyway.

If you are mature enough to have sex you should be mature enough to discuss when your cycle is. You should be honest and say I don't feel comfortable having sex because I am on my period.

there is a difference between CAN'T and WON'T. you could try anal intercourse, you could give him oral or give him full body massage with a hand job/bj (happy ending) any of those options should hold him for a few days.
