The following contribute to getting acne:
-Hormones: Increased levels of hormones, especially testosterone.
-Heredity: If either of your parents had acne as a teen, you may develop it as well.
-Menstruation: Females may experience more acne during their periods.
-Emotional stress: A study showed that increased stress may relate to worsening acne.
-Oil and grease: Some oils from certain cosmetics, facial scrubs, tanning or hair products, and moisturizers may cause skin pores to become clogged, which can cause acne. Also, cooking oils and grease may cause acne.
-Squeezing or picking: Squeezing or picking pimples or lesions speeds the breaking down of follicle walls and forces the dead cells and other material contained within deeper into the skin. This can lead to more inflammation and scarring.
-Hard, vigorous scrubbing: Washing your face with too much force will not cause acne, but it may make existing acne worse or irritate your skin.

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.
Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is: http://www.acne-treatment-medicine-1.info/

I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!
Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:
1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.
There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

Acne! ur skin is oily. This happens to people of middle age like teens. Use soaps which are oil free . Wash you face around 4-5 times a day .Do not apply any of the face creams & talks as it forms layer on the skin & does not let the skin pores to breathe.Drink plenty of water ,like 5-6 litres .Eat lot of green vegetables & nuts as it is very good for skin.. Maintain this habbit regularly ....U will soon have a result.

Acne or pimples are a complexion problem resulting in skin inflammations. The specific type and cause of an acne problem may affect how the acne is treated. Acne can be caused by stress, hormonal activity, bacteria, steroids, and over-active glands.

Even in the best circumstances, acne can be there. It's more persisteent in some people.
Fortunately you don't need to suffer from it. See a dermatologist and he will probably prescribe a low dose daily tetracycline and or an antibiotic or steroid ointment for you.
It will be based on his exam to see what is best for you.
Then your skin will clear up.
Good luck to you.

Preferred treatments by types of acne vulgaris:
Comedonal (non-inflammatory) acne: local treatment with azelaic acid, salicylic acid, topical retinoids, benzoyl peroxide.
Mild papulo-pustular (inflammatory) acne: benzoyl peroxide or topical retinoids, topical antibiotics (such as erythromycin).
Moderate inflammatory acne: benzoyl peroxide or topical retinoids combined with oral antibiotics (tetracyclines). Isotretinoin is an option.
Severe inflammatory acne, nodular acne, acne resistant to the above treatments: isotretinoin, or contraceptive pills with cyproterone for females with virilization or drospirenone.
