Anthony,
This is the universal
correct 'etiquette' to use
when you're asking somebody
to reply whether they will
attend a function or not.
It is French
'Repondez s'il vous plait'
Translation in meaning (not literal)
'Response kindly requested'
Hope it helps.

R.S.V.P. was taken from the French. It means:répondez s'il vous plaît". Which simply means "please respond".
Now if you made your own meaning up, you could say it means: "Respond Soon Via Phone/Post".
