Try eating more. Well, not MORE more; just more often. It's all about keeping your metabolism steady. Don't starve yourself all day and have a huge meal after. Serve yourself a plate and cut it in half. Eat the first half now and save the rest for a later. Example; Eat half your breakfast and save the other half for "Brunch" then at lunch time eat half your lunch and save the other half for whatever is in between Lunch and Dinner. Also excercise!!

not true... weight lifting can be a great way to lose weight if you use lighter weights and more repititions. You definately need to do both, and it isnt true that someone will get bigger if one stops lifting weights, it is that the muscles become flabbier, so you must occasionally work out but it is relatively easy to maintain your shape once you are there. But I would go to the gym, and do whatever she plans on doing, and maybe go running and do some cardio also. It is important you rest when lifting, so if you lift weights on one day relax the next... maybe that would be a good time to go for a long walk or a run once you get into better shape. In the end, the most important thing to lose weight is to eat right, but as long as you're working out everyday, whether lifting or going for a long walk, you can get away with some things occasionaly

I was the same way, i lost my father and i found comfort in food, and a year down the road i went from a very active kid who was in his prime to some junky, who loves ice cream. i found the key to where i turned my life around was getting up and walking, i walked everyday, why? because i hated running, and i read that walking is worth it because you work all the same muscles and you don't feel the after effects. Now given you cant lose all the access weight unless you eat right and do some sit ups and push ups, but ease into it and don't be afraid to indulge a little each week....not to much but Water is the key to any diet, i drank nothing but, there will be sacrifice of a lot of things you love, but the results, trust me you'll love those more. Don't forget even the smallest result is a huge step towards your goal. Get motivation from the ones that are around you, admit that your over weight and want to change, be disgusted with what youve let yourself become, because all that is just fuel to push you further than you thought you could go. have faith in yourself, and know that you can do this.

i find that dieting does not work for me, when i don't let myself have an oreo when i want it, i will end up eating the whole bag. Lately to get my chocolate fix i have been making those boxed brownie mixes, but where it calls for oil i use the same amount in apple sauce, cuts out the fat but they are still moist and yummy, you can do this for cake mixes also.
I find that 5-6 small meals a day work for me and i drink 64 oz of water along with skim milk and orange juice through out the day.
Increase your activity to lose weight one hour 3-6 days a week, you can spread this out in short spans through the day or all at once, start by taking a brisk walk, you have to get your heart rate up for this to work, and pick up the pace as the weeks progress. Doing wall squats and jumping rope are good, or just going up to the park and shooting 100 shots of a basketball are great for your arms, playing a game of tennis, even swinging is good for you, swimming is a great all over body workout, the point is to keep it interesting and fun so you look forward to the activity each day. Also for the winter months a mini trampoline is great just jump on, for say 10 min. to start and slowly increase your time frame, just getting your heart rate up is good. Good luck and please don't beat yourself up, love and embrace your self in all shapes and sizes, you are beautiful and a woman be proud of this, good luck in your journey.

After having a kid, the hormones can change making it harder to be thin. Diets do not work. 99% of people gain the weight back. Here is how it works. No one teaches the animal what to eat and what not to eat. He knows instinctively what to eat. Humans also have the same instinct. The way it works is just eat whatever tastes good and that will be healthy for you and non-fattening. That is why a baby tastes everything. So again whatever tastes good, is good for you. This is why you will spit out spoiled milk.
But wait!!! Man has the technology to create rat poison. It tastes like healthy food (good taste) but kills the rat. So man has done that to you. Note- any food unaltered by man (uncooked) that tastes good, is good for you. So if you are stranded in the woods, that is how you know what to eat (cooking changes that). So man has created fake fruit. It tastes like fruit that exists in nature but it is terrrible for health, addictive and fattening called sweets.
So it is natural to like real sweets called fruit, like a baby does, but they have fooled you just like the rat. But they do not want to kill you. When you eat unhealthy for such a long time, your blood changes in such a way that it cannot carry toxins and heavy metals out of the body. Also unhealthy eating results in unhealthy excretory organs. If the body cannot get rid of waste then it stores them in fat bone and muscle which can fool people into thinking that they are over fat, but rather over toxic. The body stores them to keep them from damaging organs and out of circulation. Also heavy metals and toxins all carry a positive charge so the body considers them to be electrolytic, so the body will store more water which just makes you look even fatter.
Trick is in most cases get rid of the toxins and heavy metals and you will find the weight will come of extremely quickly even without excercising. The body will do anything to get healthy given half a chance and it sees toxins as extremely unhealthy.
What happens is eat healthy (lots of raw vegetables) and it changes the blood and organs in a way that that it can start to get rid of toxins in the blood at the particular time. In the body things move from high concentration to low concentration. Get rid of toxins in the blood and guess what you have low concentration in the blood and high concentration in fat, bone and muscle so they end up coming out and as long as you keep eating healthy the exchange will continue to take place.
Good thing for you is the fat stores seem to go first then muscle then bone.
The best thing to do is eat lots of raw vegetables. I cant stand raw vegetables but I love them when they are all blended up with some all natural fruit juice.

Depening on how fat you are its really not good to do intense hard workouts, it can indirectly make you even fatter. As you produce lactic acid the body uses alkaline stores to carry it out of the body, so if your short on stores in the first place its only making matters worse. For the time being dont do anything that makes you out of breath.
