I know it’s a fake, it’s not really from “good house keeping” circa 1950, but what do you think of it? I for one could not stop laughing.

Here are some examples from the list. The rest are on this link.

1. Have dinner ready: Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal — on time. This is a way of letting him know that you have been thinking about him, and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they come home and the prospects of a good meal are part of the warm welcome needed.

2. Prepare yourself: Take 15 minutes to rest so you will be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your makeup, put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh looking. He has just been with a lot of work-weary people. Be a little gay and a little more interesting. His boring day may need a lift.

more!
3. Clear away the clutter. Make one last trip through the main part of the house just before your husband arrives, gathering up school books, toys, paper, etc. Then run a dust cloth over the tables. Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give you a lift, too.

4. Prepare the children: Take a few minutes to wash the children's hands and faces if they are small, comb their hair, and if necessary, change their clothes. They are little treasures and he would like to see them playing the part.

5. Minimize the noise: At the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise of washer, dryer, dishwasher or vacuum. Try to encourage the children to be quiet. Be happy to see him. Greet him with a warm smile and be glad to see him.

6. Some Don'ts: Don't greet him with problems or complaints. Don't complain if he's late for dinner. Count this as minor compared with what he might have gone through that day.

7. Make him comfortable: Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or suggest he lie down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready for him. Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in a low, soft, soothing and pleasant voice. Allow him to relax and unwind.

8. Listen to him: You may have a dozen things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first.

9. Make the evening his: Never complain if he does not take you out to dinner or to other places of entertainment; instead, try to understand his world of strain and pressure, his need to be home and relax.

10. The goal: Try to make your home a place of peace and order where your husband can relax.

I read about that a while back, it is pretty freaking hilarious. Although, I have read a book from the sixties or seventies kind of like this that was published by seventeen magazine. It basically said that if a girl wanted to meet a guy she should try to take the really hard boy type classes like math, biology, chemistry and physics because there will be a lot of boys in those classes and very little girls to compete for the guys attention! I cracked up when I read that! It was so ridiculous and I'm so glad that times have changed.

It is a little sad that women had to wait on their husbands hand and foot just because they didn't bring home the money. It seems that they were robots put on this earth to please a man. I'm not much of a feminist, but they really were missing out on what a relationship could be by being equal to eachother, splitting the responsibilities, and appreciating each other for the work they both put in. I like to cook dinner for my husband, look nice for him, and clean up so that when he comes home he can kick back and relax, but I also love it when he does the same for me as well. When you have a mutual love and respect for one another, you share every day's responsibilities and are stronger because of it.

I mean yeah those are nice and i guess its okay but theres a lot more to being a good wife then that. But also i think that the ribion in the hair is a little over board and im not sure im gonna cook a huge meal for him every night he can have a normal size meal and deal with it!!

Number 2 made me laugh, I also work full time, how am I ever gonna have time to put a ribbon in my hair?????

The only one I agree with is minimising noise, my other half works in a really noisy kitchen and he hates it if I empty the dishwasher etc as soon as he has got in from work, because he has been listening to pots and pans crashing all day.

Funny. who's got 15 minutes these days? For a rest or anything else? Hate to say it, but there are folks out there who still believe the man is the head of the household, and should be deferred to, and catered to.. Certain religions teach this. Fine, if that is what you want.
I've always been grateful to my Mom, who never asked my Dad permission to do anything, she asked if he minded did she go and do whatever. He didn't. They divided up the work around the house, each had their own jobs. Mom had a bit more to do, and she wanted it that way,but she also had me to help, had she wanted help..
I still cringe when Lucy tells Desi "Yes, sir". I liked Fred and Ethel's relationship better, at least they argued as equals: "Oh, Fred!" :)

Times were different. A family could actually live on one salary, and many more people are cheating nowadays.

The one thing I do hate is give me a half an hour to relax. Don't great me with a lot of problems or drama. Let me wind down.

Well, of course it's what most men would secretly want, because women would love that, too! Who wouldn't like to have their pillow fluffed and dinner ready? Women, you'd be over the moon if your husband ever treated you like that!

But after one day, it'd get a little flat and boring. I know my husband would be feeling my head for fever and wondering what happened to the woman he married.

I am pretty sure it was a guy in a pseudonym who wrote the article. This is what every man secretly desires. As an occasional treat he can have all this, provided he gives back in the same coin to the wife irrespective of whether she is a working woman or not!! And what the hell does "A good wife knows her place" mean???????????? What a typical MCP reaction that is!!!

Yeah, that's probably not a fake. That's really what they tried to tell people. I've seen copies of that article before, also kids books that follow the same lines. Sad, but true. I'm glad I was born later.

There is a lot of sense in this list. The bottom line is don't dump **** on him once he walks in the door from a hard day's work. Be pleasant to him and he will be pleasant to you.
