I am assuming that this question is directed to persons residing in the USA. However, if you were in Ontario, Canada, then there are 3 levels of Paramedic, with Critical Care being the highest level, Advanced Care being the middle level and Primary Care being the entry level.
Approximate annual salaries (before Overtime) for each level (in Canadian Dollars) are below:
Primary Care - $58,000
Advanced Care - $71,000
Critical Care - $82, 000
Each level generally will earn another 5-10 thousand dollars per year in Overtime pay.
Why not move to Canada? :)
I am a Critical Care Flight Paramedic and RN FYI

I've been working on an ambulance since 1981. Back in those days.....actually the pay was good......But it hasn't gotten much better since then. In some places, they don't make much more than minimum wage.
Every state is different in regards to certifications regarding paramedics. In the states that recognize the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, there are 4 levels of medic...which are as follows.......
1) First Responder
2) EMT-Basic
3) EMT-Intermediate
4)EMT-Paramedic
As I said, it really depends on the state and if they recognize the National Registry. Hope I've helped you out with this.......have a great day.

Depends on many things. It varies greatly depending on state. Also depends on your level of certification, and position in the department. In a department EMTs get the lowest, then there are the medics, supervisors, and whatever other positions paramedics fill.
The levels of EMT are:
First Responder
EMT-Basic
EMT-Intermediate
EMT-Paramedic (medic)

it varies state by state. a paramedic is a paramedic, they're licensed by whatever county they work in, as well as the state
they don't make nearly what they deserve to make, most of them making less than 40k a year
