I've just started reading Green's 'Elegant Universe' today.

While superstring theory, 'branes and all that new quantum cosmology stuff is interesting....(and I've actually read "The Elegant Universe" by Brian Greene, not just watched the DVD) It does lack the main ingredient of science...a testable hypothesis.

"What the Bleep ...." is a piece of new age crap, produced by JZ Knight who has been scamming the gullible with her chanelling of Ramtha for years.

Just because you use "quantum" as an adjective every 3rd sentence doesn't make you profound. Have some credulity, if you buy this crap then center your aura and say a little chant while you sit in your magnetized crystal pyramid and overdose on homeopathic sleeping pills.....

it's not really a matter of "believing" it. i've never seen the clip you said to watch. about string theory, there probably is a string of truth to it. i say this because God is multi-dimensional, and it somewhat coincides with how He does things. but even lies have a shred of truth about them.

it is intriguing though. imagine proof that there are more dimensions out there than the 3 or 4 that man perceives and acknowledges. a whole world of levels and dimensions, heights and depths to believe in that can not be seen with the human eye! sounds like the scientific types are dipping into realms that the spiritual people already know exist through their faith!

but it is still all very vague. we shall see what else unfolds from this "discovery".

String Theory is currently "Not Even Wrong"... :)

I find the theory interesting from a theoretical viewpoint.

However if the theory is to be really credible, it needs to generate testable, falsifiable predictions (like Einstein's theories did) -- and we should be able to do experiements which would test those predictions.

Cordially,
John

My husband does... he's tried explainging it to me, and as far as I can understand it, it is relatively fascinating. The idea that there is some sort of fabric or dimnsion or extra-dimension that explains the possibility of an infinite number of 'parallel' universes is quite intriguing.. however it is complex.

I am NOT a believer of superstrings, I think it is just too difficult to prove that it has no sense to ask any question.

'Believer' is probably not the right way to express acceptance of a scientific theory.

It doesn't really matter what you believe, it's the experimental evidence that Will prove or disprove a theory.

its really fascinating, but a lot of people have to accept it as fact before it is allowed to be a scientific law and they dont even have a way to test it yet, so its just conversation at this point. It really makes me realize how close we are to Star Trek, Star Wars, Battleship Gallactica, Alien, Predator...... oh no whats really out there that can come and get us!!!!!

I believe it is a very interesting hypothesis that can explain many things, but it still needs some supporting evidence.
