ok, beanpole- here's the deal:
find a "Hi Protein" diet book and read it- TWICE.
you'll have to not only lower your total body fat but also work those abs. You have to do both because no matter how striated your abs are, if they're covered by fat you won't see them.
if you STARVE yourself your body will STORE fat around your gut and you'll shoot yourself in the foot. So go with a Hi protein diet, work the abs AND add an aerobic exercise regimen to lower your bodyfat NOT lose muscle mass.

why do you need a six pack. Is it a sign to you that you are healthy. Do you need it to prove you represent a healthy lifestyle? You have already admitted to not being healthy so do you need the six pack to make you feel better???? I got news for you. You don't really need the six pack. Besides, the six pack is overrated.

you should do a mix of ab work out like crunches, bicycles, boxers, sit ups, rope climbers, & all that stuff, but all it guarantees is a few lines on your stomach in 2 months. i do them, & i have about a 4 pack right now to be honest.

You have to be very patient to get a six pack. every night before you go to bed try to do at least 50 crunches or situps before bed time. If you drink beer, soda, they will not help you at all.
