I'm really not sure. I mean, surely they risk touching someone else's nasty gum in the process. But I guess the idea of someone touching someone else's nasty gum under the table clearly isn't a deterent. Isn't there SOME other way of disposal that seems smarter and easier?

Because most of them know they are messy eaters and are going to need their napkin to wipe their face, and by the time the food comes, there is no way in the world they are walking away from the table to disgard gum, so they have to stick it somewhere.

I think it must be like a club. When they go somewhere else, they just look under the table and there is someone elses gum they can chew. Saves money too.

pure laziness and lack of respect for themselves and others. im sure if they ever got stuck to a peice they would go berserk and angry, why not have some respect for the people!?

because if you are in class you wont get caught or if you are somewhere else your gu wont get stuck in your hand or nobody would get noticed that you wee chewing gum.
