yeah i got that problem sometimes too. they got me workin different shifts every month, so i know all about missin sleep. i usually stretch before i lay down. even if your muscles dont feel tense, its always a good idea. i stretch my calves, and touch my toes, and then go up from there. itll relieve any existing tension and itll relax you a little. when i lay down, i take a few deep breaths and hold them. then i release them slowly. that relaxes me more. then ill just picture someplace comfortable. usually ill imagine im laying on a beach. i can feel the sun on my face, the hot sand massaging my back, and i can smell the ocean. i love the beach so that relaxes me too. tahts what i do. should be able to get more advice on teh web. try that stuff tho and see if it helps

The most natural way I know is to tire yourself out during the day. If you are waking up at 3 PM tomorrow, go for a jog, a bike ride or some other activity for about 2 hours. When you get home, take a nice shower, avoid the computer or tv, or whatever it is that is keeping you awake. Try to just sit down and listen to some music, perhaps. Get into bed around 11, and if you did it correctly, you should fall asleep smoothly.

Start with a nice hot bath with lavender oil or bubble bath. Lavender is a very calming, relaxing smell. Then have a warm cup of sleepy time tea, you can find it in any grocery store. It has a good mixture of herbs that help you relax. Do some yoga or just plain stretching to release built up tension in muscles. Then lay in bed with a book or listen to soft music until you fall asleep. Hope that helps, works for me!

As for your boyfriends snoring, I keep a fan on in the room to drown out noices. Try that with some good ol' ear plugs.

Melatonin is a natural herb that can be taken about 45 minutes before you need to be asleep. It is a brain hormone that helps you fall asleep and sometimes we just need a little more than what our brain is producing at times.
Get it at a discount store or a grocery, or health food store.

I will tell what works... if you simply do some meditation for say 5 minutes before you go to bed. This way the mind comes to a place of relaxation, from here the relaxing effect flows through the body and you will drift into dream land. Besides which meditation before sleeping is a great way to re-connect with body and mind and soul.

Read a book, maybe a boring book. Just lay down in the most comfortable spot in your house and think of most relaxing thing you've ever done and I can guarantee you will be out quicker than you think. If that doesn't work, run 3 miles take a hot shower and you will definitely be out for the count.

The old method of taking a glass of warm milk before bed is not just an old wive's tale. It has been found that the glutamine in milk can make you drowsy. You don't need to have it warm to get the effect, but if you find it to be calming, go for it. I personally can't stand to drink my milk warm.

Need to get to sleep before snoring boyfriend for starters. Take yourself out in to the fresh air with a warm chocolate or milk drink and just zone out. Make sure you get up the same time every morning no matter what - even the weekend. Eventually your body will kick in and you will sleep well.
