People should use the right language for the right person in the right moment. If the conversation is not meant for others to take part, why should they want to speak English? that sounds like paranoic. anyway, if they are saying bad things, they still would do it in private. So.. what's the difference? You should learn a foreign language too.

Let's say the Canadians are in American and on a skytrain, should the Americans all speak whatever the dialect the Canadians are used to speaking? C'mon. Don't be so sensitive. So what if they are talking about you. What could they really say that matters? They don't know you. If it is a racial slur, all the better that you don't get it.
That is the real issue. People are uncomfortable when foreigners speak their language because they believe that they are being talked about. The fact is the foreigners are just more comfortable holding conversations in their native language. Get over it or become multilingual!

Suppose you work in Italy or Greece, Why shouldn't you talk your language a lot of people do not talk English there do you think they're going to get mad because you talk English? You have the right to speak any language you want. about talking loud some people speak English and speak loud, that has nothing to do with the language. some people speak loud you can hear them from across the street, some people do not hear good so when thay speak they speak loud I do not know why I can't figure it out.

what??? why do u assume that the whole world should speak only English? may be for u it's a native language, but for billions of other people it's not! everyone has a right to speak his own language! u really got me pissed off with this question.
I live in Bangkok, Thailand now (not my native city and country), here u can hear nearly all languages existing in the world - so, should locals insist on everyone speaking Thai only? it's ridiculous. ur question is out of common sense.

People can speak whatever they want. My only problem is in social situations where some people in a group speak a language and the others don't, and the foreign language speakers get into a conversation in their own language, excluding the others.
In a case like that, I think it's rude to speak a foreign language in a social situation where not everyone in the group can understand you.
But if you're in a self-contained group in public and are speaking a foreign language, I don't have a problem with that at all.

Of course it's okay. People who disapprove of others speaking a language other than the one(s) they know are only afraid that the person speaking another language is talking about them. I've heard that admission *many* times. It's silly and childish to get angry with someone for merely speaking another language.

If you, as a canadian, went to china with friends, do you think the chinese would expect you to speak chinese.
People talk the way they can. Just because you know and speak English doesn't mean everyone else in the world does. And no matter the language, if they are too loud, a finger to your lips can quiet most humans down.

If the foreign people only know their language then I guess it's ok, but they should lower their voice. I don't think it's ok for people to speak another language in a work invironment, because it is rude to the customers. There are places where it's ok and places where it's not.

i think of it is very impolite for them to talk of their interior sight language around you. in the event that they are no longer speaking approximately then you definately there isn't any ought to talk in 'code'. they must be conversing English so which you will comprehend and join the verbal exchange in case you elect for to. it is in simple terms impolite. I hate while human beings try this. The verbal exchange must be thoroughly harmless yet how are you to comprehend in view which you won't be able to comprehend what they are saying. Makes you experience very insecure and contemplate whether they are literally speaking approximately you. in the event that they have been fairly buddies then they might recognize you and talk English so which you will comprehend them and not experience surpassed over.
