Probably it's because they are generally nasty in their own personality and nature, and once they see that you are a nice and kind person they can take advantage of you.
Also, some people are nasty because secretly and deep down inside they are unhappy, thus displacing their unhappiness to you through their snappish attitude. Seeing people being nice to them makes them envious and jealous, because all a person really wants to be is happy--and they don't have that. So these people shouldn't really be hated, they should be pitied.
Consequently, they become nasty when you are nice. I learned that these people are usually best left alone and avoided.

For certain people will take every advantage they can, and those "helpers" out there will continue to aid anyone they can without prejudice. Is that a fault? Doubt it, we are social creatures by nature and part of our beings are to help others no matter what, you may not require the aid of someone right now nor would want to give it but sometime throughout your exsistence it has happened or will happen. You may have to really look for it but just remember that the smallest deed outweighs the biggest intention, don't let yourself become a victim. As a leader I often have to look in the mirrors, it all comes back to me. Have I given enough knowledge, are they really functioning as good as they can with the insight I've given them? Too many times we just blame and forget about accountability.

This is usually only true with girls ( I mean that girls are nasty, evil creatures)... and it's because they think they can walk all over you and you won't stand up for yourself.
And before anyone gets offended by what I said... I am a girl... and there are only a few that I can stand being around.

sometimes we are nice to wrong people, also some people like to be used and abused for some reason and when someone is nice to them, they either take it for granted or are being bad towards the niceness because they don't care.

Because you are being too nice and they think they can walk all over you. Its great to be nice but you need to stand up for yourself and dont take crap from anyone. You will get more respect by standing up for yourself.

People usually take kindness for a weakness but, don't let that make you bitter. They think that because you are being nice that they can walk all over you. Don't let them treat you like crap.

Because they take ur niceness as ur weakness and play with ur feelings and in my view the best way to take revenge is do some insulting tricks but in a nice and sweet way
They will get bizzare by ur sweetness

They could be people who just don't trust anyone and you being nice makes them wonder what you are trying to pull.

the art of ignoring people is a great thing to learn.... Learn to ignore them and see the change in them... works great if you can handle ignoring people.... but then again some people just belong in Iggyville
