Do you agree with this quote, if so, why?
Rev. Jerry Falwell
"Feminism encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."
or this one : Pat Robertson
"I know this is painful for the ladies to hear, but if you get married, you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of the household and the husband is the head of the wife, and that's the way it is.
Or both? why?

Both of these men and their pronouncments sicken me. I am not so amazed that anyone could agree with either of them, but then, that's why I ask.

Not so loony, my hearing what those jerks have to say. They influnced the last election. They, James Dobson and Frankin Graham influenced millions of fundy Christians to vote for Bush, and he , in turn, has opposed every item on their wish lists.

Some people just don't get it! Those two would be dictators are off the wall. My statement is more about women's hard won 'Freedom of choice'. The choice of being a homemaker, a career woman, gay or having children, etc. No one calls men gay, warlocks, or says they are destroying capitalism and are wrong to leave their wives. Men are free to make their own choices. Rather those choices are good, bad or indifferent and regardless of the consequences.
Most of the anti-feminism jerks would be happy if women still wore chastity belts and would curtsey every time her husband (master) walked in the door.

First one - well, in a way he is right. I mean that feminism doesn't discourage those things, but encourages women to take control of their own lives. If that includes sacrificing goats to Satan, then feminism will let you know that you can have those beliefs despite what any man tells you.
Second - hahahahahahahahahaha!! 1. Christ was never married, so how can you use him to explain what marriage is? 2. Who's to say the man even wants to be in charge? No Pat, marriage is a union - a joining together of two people, not the conquer of one by another, nor the relinquishment of any rights. He's just a little confused. If he's married, we all know his wife only lets him think that crap because he's making enough money off it to keep her from having to work.

I disagree with Falwell completely. He is a crackpot, anyway.
As for Robertson, the answer is 'it depends' because if your husband thinks he's the 'head of the family' and that he gets to make all final decisions, you two will just clash all the time and end up divorced (if you're lucky). So it's real important to make sure that you don't have a closet Pat Robertson fan for your wonderful fiance, or you're headed for a rocky road.

To the first quote: there's nothing wrong with witchcraft, anti-capitalism, and being gay. Encouraging to kill their children has to be the dumbest argument against feminists.
To the second quote: marriage has changed. Everyone is equal in marriage now. Churches now marry interracial couples. Just a warning, never listen to a single thing Pat Robertson says.

I disagree based on the actual bible. LOL! I'm not even Christian and I've read the thing. The whole thing and actually remembered what I've read. Jesus actually had both female and male followers and listened to both. If only men were supposed to be worthy of note, I don't think that would have been the case. It's amazing what people will do to twist a little knowledge and make it into something else.

No. Mainly because Jerry Falwell is an idiot and a control freak of mass proportions. Also, because I have a mind of my own, and it is far superior to most men's. If a man has an idea superior to my own, I may choose to act upon this idea. Otherwise, I will continue with what I know to be a correct course of action. I will not let any one control me or my actions. I trust my own judgment, not the judgment of those that seek to control others through fear and intimidation.

Now you know why many women leave Christianity.
Falwell was only putting the spirit of his time and his church in blunt terms. As for the second, it's kept me single for life; even the good Pagan men are mostly taken or gay.

ok i don't agree with the feminism thing, but i have never claimed to be a feminist. I believe that the man should be head of the household but in turn if you read corinthians paul instructs husbands to love their wives in the same way that God loves the church.

Not at all.. Women are just as equal as men and it is not feminism that makes women leave there husbands, its the way the opposite one acts towards the other.
Falwell and Robertson are sexist and have no idea how society is today.

Jerry Falwell is an idiot and even before I identified myself as a feminist I thought so. He just is one of the many men whom feel threatened because society is now discovering women can do well off without men.
There are A LOT of heterosexuals out there who are feminist by the way.

The first one is ridiculous and extremist. but the second one :
I have heard that from controlling husbands (not mine) and the truth is that in a real marriae the man is the 'head ot the family' traditionally but as Christ loves the church the man should love the woman and therefore treat her with respect and equality that any human, especially a lifetime spouse should receive.
