i own a repair shop,,and have heard the same sound from a dodge stratus,,and to this day we haven't figured it out,,it hasn't gotten any worse,,or any better,,and believe me we have looked hard for it,,i came to the conclusion,,if it isn't broke,,don't try and fix it,,the only thing i can tell you that it might be,,and this is a slim chance,,it may have a bearing,,in one of the cv joint that has wore down uneven, other than that,,all i Can say is drive it till it becomes noticeable enough so that you can find it,,good luck with it,,i hope this help,s.

I think all of those Dodge and Chrysler vehicles from 1997 to about 2000 did that. I had a Cirrus and it did that from day one, my parents had a Town and Country and same thing, plus I have seen (heard) this on many other similar cars from that age range before.

sometimes the engine and transmission mount get a little weak and will let the engine and transmission move forward or backwards, depending on what gear you put it in and cause the drive axles to click, this will eventually make the cv joints go out. there have been a few times where I found the planetary gears in the transmission was making the same sound, due to wear (high mileage) if this is the problem then the transmission needs to be rebuilt
