Do girls like it when a guy looks at them for a few seconds and smiles and does not say anything? Should a guy at least say some thing like "hi", "how are you?''. Does it make a girl uncomfortable when a total stranger is approaching her to meet her in a normal environment and under normal circumstances (classroom setting, school, college campus)...

Looking at a girl and smiling is nice, but am sure she'll appreciate it more if you say hi.
I don't think girls get uncomfortable meeting a guy in a normal environment. On the other hand, however, I can't really speak for all girls it's unfair, because they're entitle to their own opinions.
But to speak for myself, I don't think I'll get uncomfortable meeting a guy in a normal environment.

I'd like the guy to approach me, and not w/ those lame lines, but as u said, a friendly "hello" or "how are you" would be nice. Since the circumstances are normal, then I wouldn't feel uncomfortable at all.

For me,i like if the guy just look and smile at me than approach me bcoz i might be shy or uncomfortable if the guy approach me.If the guy always look and then smile at me i know already that the guy likes me.This not mean that the guy no need to approach me anymore.The guy have to approach me if the place and time is suitable...

I think most ladies would be intrigued by that. However, ladies beware!! On college campuses people like Richard Speck and Ted Bundy used to hang around. I'm serious. Get to know a handsome stranger prior to going anywhere alone with him.

Ok to smile, then if she smiles back you can approach her if in a good inviroment. She would be more secure. If you say hi, and she let's you next to her then things ok. But if she walks off then try it again another time. She might just have other things on her mine. Good luck Pem

Say hi! The beautiful smile shows genuine coolness but the "How are you"?Shows that you can start a conversation and are approachable!

It all depends, a quick glance, and smile is good, see if she returns it. Then find a reason to go and ask her something so you can get to know her better. Get her interested first, then see how that goes.

Smile at them first. Then if they seem like they are interested, start a conversation with them. See how she reacts and note body language, then go from there.
