Ok, since I take part in this scene, i dono who is right. Ok so i was at my parent's friend's house and I was doing the computer. and my parents friend's daughter wanted to do the comp, so i let her.. since i had nothing left to do, i took out my ipod to listen. But my dad took my ipod away saying that I listen to it too much (i only listen to it when i excercise, in the car, and when the adults are talking and i have nothing to do, like now), so i took out my cell phone to text message my friend, but my dad also took my cell phone away, saying that i play with too much technology. In my mind I was like WHAT THE F*CK is his problem??? If I listen to music MY ears get bad not his.
So, who's right in this situation? Is my dad right to take my cellphone and my ipod away?

My question is why do you need a cell phone? Because your friends have one? I don't care how unpopular my kids are, they will not have cell phones. I expect that when they say they will be somewhere, I will call the place to see if they are there, not their cell phone. We didn't have cell phones and we were just fine.
You want to know who is right? Who pays for your stuff? Who's house do you live in? Who's car do you ride in? Your dad has the right to take away everything except your house, your clothes (at least one outfit), and your food. If you think he doesn't, than you are way too spoiled and you need all that stuff taken away to get a reality check.

He DOES have the right, as your father, to take them away - unless of course you paid for them.
However, SHOULD he have taken them away? Probably not. Unless you are lying about how this happened it sounds like you did nothing wrong. It seems a bit weird to just grab both items away from you like that just for using them. If you had done something wrong and he was punishing you then that's one thing. But why give you something only to take it away from you when you are using it? Seems like he would WANT you to use it so you don't waste his money.
How old are you? Who bought the items?

Forgive your father for he was wrong. Parents, in the strict sense of the word, have the responsibility ofrearing their children, sending them to school, and providing their needs, But they should not indulge themselves too much in what their children do every minute of the day and want they want to do as persons with their own minds.
If that problem becomes repetitive, you may talk to your father with politeness about it. Assure him that you will not do anything to harm yourself. Ask him to let you do some things that you will have to decide on your own and request him to respect that if at all they are not detrimental to your well-being.

I think your dad wanted you to interact with the people; his way of doing it was harsh but tech stuff have made people more anti-social and empty. Next time maybe do manicures and pedicure with your girl friend. Good Luck

I guess you want to ask yourself if this is typical behaviour from your dad.
If it's not - he could just be having a really bad day. Cut him a bit of slack, and check it out tomorrow.
You'll get better communication when neither of you is angry.
Good luck.

I think your dad wanted you to be polite and show interest in their friends. He may have thought that was rude. One of those stupid things parents do when we want our kids to make us look good.

He is afraid you will get sucked into the black wormhole of technology. Don't worry, after we insert that computer chip under his skin he will mellow out.
