How old are the kids?
Get a bunch of solid-color t-shirts in fall colors, a few 99 cent foam stamps from Wal-Mart craft department, some fabric paint and let them decorate their own shirts.

scavenger hunts are always fun and easily geared to the ages of the children involved. Think of odd things to hide inside and outside the house, an apple in a pile of leaves for example, or maybe find a colorful leaf in the backyard, break the kids up into small groups and have an adult take each group through the hunt at different times so things can be restocked by someone. We did this for my niece's Halloween party last year, using appropriate props and the kids all had a blast! Make sure the clues are easy enough to figure out with maybe a little help.

Haunted House, we did one last year with the boys and girls club, have parents or friends be the actors.

If it's available, a pumpkin patch is great, or a maze made out of haystacks. pumpkin carving, hay-rack rides, that sort of thing.
