The secret is to combine the coupons you have with the in-store savings specials at the grocery store. A favorite free site of mine is www.couponmom.com. The site lists all of coupons found in the Sunday paper and those online, and combines them w/ the grocery circular prices. Sometimes you have to sign up for the store's frequent shopper card to get the in store discount but it is worth it! On the website, you can develop a shopping list using that info and it will show you how much you'll spend and save. Believe it or not, I once bought over $100 worth of groceries for about $6 using this technique!
The down side is that the things you need to buy aren't always on sale or have coupons for when you need to buy them so if you stock up in advance when they are you can maximize your savings.
Also, combine this with double coupon & triple coupon promotions the grocery stores will have. Who offers what promotions depends on where you live. The New England area tends to be big on triple couponing. Also, grocery stores located by a Walmart tends to do some very deep discounting.
Good luck!

I do save coupons and use them. They really add up if you have a store near you that doubles the coupon value. Another way to save money is of course discount stores for cleaners and some foods, comparision shop and if you know someone who would go in with you on a bulk store (Sam's Club, BJ"S) money could also be saved. Also, buy window washer fluid and use it on your windows at home. It's the same thing as the more expensive kind. Hope these suggestions work. Also, try asking at the library or major bookstore to see if they have any titles to show how to use coupons wisely. I am pretty sure there are at least 3 books out there on the topic. Happy Saving!

I don't clip coupon, but I save money by looking at the flyer (for the sale items) and plan weekly dinner accordingly before you go shopping.
Careful: don't get trapped into buying unnecessary item though. Just buy the main things.
And most important, don't bring your kids shopping, you will end up spending a lot more than your budget.

Every penny adds up. I always get the Sunday paper anyways, so I go ahead and cut out the coupons for things I already use. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy a different, more expensive brand if thats what the coupon was for though.

Some people do this really well, I'm not one of them.
Consider your time - do you have a lot of it on your hands?
I don't even shop for the food at my house, my dear husband is responsible for that.
I have no time for coupons, all that clipping and you know you have to keep track of them - they do expire.

I don't. It is a gimmick. Makes you buy more, so at the end you spend more but get more with little money. but than you don't need lot..so why buy lots?
