ok so there is this guy and we've been talking for 1 year now and i finally told him that i really liked him and he was like shocked and he was like "i'm not turning you down or anything but you need to do better, meaning you can get a better guy then me" and we still are friends after that but i'm confused of what he meant. he always flirts with me and i flirt back. i still like him and i don't know if he really turned me down! please help!

Is there anything to stop you from continuing with your friendship with him? Is he attached and interested to go further with you? if not, then by all means, continue to build up your friendship.
He may tell you to find someone better to see if you are really keen on him. He may also want to know if he meets with your expectations and not rejecting you. He probably thinks you have higher expectations!
