Canada has got it going on in relation to other countries.

The United Nations' Human Development Report lists Canada as # 3 behind Norway and Sweden, (Not 4 as earlier reported). According to the UN HDR, Canada was the number one country to live in for seven consecutive years, I believe from 1993-2000 but lately it's been Norway for the last four or five years.

Consider yourself very fortunate if you live in any of the countries near the top of that UN list, and imagine the suffering of those at the bottom. Consider; Sierra Leone with a average life expectancy of less than 39 years of age. Is Canada the worst place? No. It's silly to even suggest it.

Me! Me! Me! I honestly believe that Canada ISN'T the worst place on the planet! Am I right? Do I win??

Sorry, but I had to use "worst" instead of the proper "worse" as it reflects the most honest answer in response to the question!

Of course Canada isn't the worst place. It's very beautiful and we have FREE medical care. Contrary to what some think, French is only a small segment. While Canada overall is considered bilingual (French/English), only Quebec is officially French and New Brunswick officially bilingual. Canada is also a "melting pot" for many diverse cultures and welcoming to immigrants. Despite the racial diversity in Canada, the mainstream view is acceptance of everyone's differences, be it cultural or religious.

Your just jealous you don't live in one of the cleanest and most diverse countries on the planet. With almost every possible kind of geographical feature within it's borders and probably at least on person from every country on the planet, I think Canada has got it made. Come visit, you might want to stay a while. We might not want to let you.

New Orleans, especially with Ray Nagin running the cleanup/fixup, is a pretty disgusting place right now.

The Sudan sucks.
Most of Europe is still in the mid-20th century.

The Far East is so misleading to westerners, you think they have all this technology and would work the benefits of it but they have so many people there,
that the bulk of the country is worse than you can imagine.
Hygenically especially.

Canada the worst? Maybe if you are bored and have nothing to do, but in a few words, I think your government does more for its' people than the larger percentage of all governments on earth.

If you are canadian, you would know more than I/we, yet I would still say yours is not the pits of Hell. :-)

Canada isn't the worst place in the world, it's actually one of the best places. Toronto is great!

whoa-why all the resentment? do you live in Canada? Can you validly vouch for it's crapiness? Maybe it seems like a bad place to you, but most other Canadians wouldn't say that-in fact, there is alot of pride here, from what i gather. There are worse places to live, that's for sure!

Canada is a great place to live but there seems to be an common mistake by Canadians on here. Canada DOES NOT RANK AT NUMBER 1 BY THE UN'S LIST OF BEST COUNTRIES. Canada comes in at number 4, Norway is first, then sweeden followed by Australia.

The United States ranks at number 6. Just two up from Canada.

Although Canada is great, it's sad to see so many Canadians bashing other nations for not being as good as Canada (mainly Europe and the United States).

I bet those starving children with no water or food in Kenya would love to live in any of the countries that made the list of the top 10 nations to live in. Wether it be Canada or the United States or England.
