Animal shelters are overflowing with pets who desperately need a loving home. Go check out your local shelter for a dog.

Adoption is always the best way to start any process whether it be a child or animal. There are so many homeless animals running loose and our system only allows so much free time before they destroy the strays they have. You have several options to choose from beginning with the pound in your local area or Humane societies or a rescue sight for a certain type dog,We began our search for our sheltie on the sheltie rescue site. Rescue sites are country wide,Your local paper will also have leads on animal adoptions.Any way you choose to go just remember this dog will be a new addition to your family give it all the love and attention you can .

If it is a choice between buying one and adopting one then..by all means, adopt one!

However, if you are asking if you should run out and adopt a dog because you decided you want one..

You should ask yourself a few questions:
* How much time do I have to spend caring for my pet?
* Do I want an active or passive pet?
* How much of my income can I spend on a pet?
* Am I a patient person?
* Why, exactly, do I want a pet?
*Do I have the right home to offer a new dog?

Adopting is one of the best ways to get a dog. You would be giving it a second chance at life.

Before u adopt a dog, u need to consider whether your living enviroment is suitable to adopt a dog? What kind of dog u wants to adopt? Do you have enought time to spend with your dog? Whats about your family? Do they like dog also?

Sure you can adopt one. Make sure the dog is house-broken, and it gets along with kids (if you have any) and also make sure it was not a dog that had been abused.

Yes, from the Humane Society - Yes.

There are so many homeless pets that need home before they are put to sleep. You could save a dog's life - and give him a better life than he could dream of.

I do think mutts or mix breeds have better temperaments too - compared to pure breed dogs - so I think they are actually better behaved dogs and easier to train.

Go to a few of them in your area before choosing a pet... But if your like me you'll want to take them all home!

GO to your local SPCA, A month ago me, my hubby and my son went to ours to just see it and we were SOOOOOO IMPRESSED and we ended up with an addition to the family as well!

For $89 we recieved:
My Morgan (my new 3 month old shepherd mix)
A collar
Tags
Shots
Spaying
A bag of Science diet puppy chow
A microchip
A month of free pet insurance
A disc on how to properly train your new dog ($30 value)
And consultation on her breed and her needs before we took her home to make sure she was right for us.

She is a gem, and they go through extensive work to make sure you find the right dog (or should we say the right dog finds you)!
