Open your phone book, go to M/Mental Health, and look for a MHMR clinic. They specialize in mental health disorders. They can diagnose you, assign you a case worker, and provide your medication.

Call your GP for a referral. You need a psychologist and a psychiatrist. A psychologist deals with the emotional side of things and the behavioral part, while the psychiatrist deals with the medication end. A GP can prescribe meds, but they do not specialize in mental health so I don't think they are as effective. Don't wait to get help. The sooner you start treatment, the better the prognosis.

your best bet is to call valueoptions (yes, it is one word) at 800-564-5465 for a referral. they are the "rbha" (regional behavioral health agency) for the phoenix, az area. they can refer you to the appropriate place for a diagnosis. they can also refer you to one that has a sliding fee scale, if needed. they also have a website - www.valueoptions.com/arizona
the reason i know this is because i own a behavioral health agency in the phoenix area. - whatever you do, please get help. this is a very serious problem that does not have to be a part of a persons everyday life.
good luck to you - :)

There is no one test for Bipolar Disorder. It is a mental illness That use to be caleed "Manic Depression". One has to talk to a trained psychiatrist in a mental health center who is familiar with the disease.
Even though i live in NY state- a simple web search brought me to this site:

Good luck

Ask friends to help you find a good general practitioner - you'll probably need a referral from one to get the tests you want done.

First thing I would do is to go to a general practicioner to let him/her know of your concern. Or you can possibly check out a social worker or psychologist in your area to help you out. Another helpful resource would be to check out www.ivillage.com as they have a huge community of on-line support groups, and I'm sure they have a bipolar one to help you with your concerns.

If you have medical insurance, you could go through that to see a phsyciatrist. If you dont, you need to check what kind of free medical insurance your state uses. In Cali... we have "Medi-Cal". You could contact your local county services to see what they have to offer you.

You actually have to see a counselor or pyscholigist to be diagnosed.
Here is a center I found in your area, good luck.

You should make an appointment with your primary care physician and have him/her evaluate you or refer you to a doctor is the right field.
