Maria C Glad you have confided in God's Holy Scriptures, And He has much to share with you and the world, and has recorded in his Word ample examples of men, women, child who have under gone depression..besides God has seen it all. Job suffered sickness and personal misfortune. He felt abandoned by God,so he felt a loathing towards life (Job 10; 1; 29:2,4,5 ) Epaphroditus a first century christian from Philippi became invititation to read acct at ( Philippians 2: 25-27 ) Philippians 2: 28-30, shows how Paul helped. So without a doubt the Bilbles advice is to speak " consolingly to the depressed souls is the very best. Jesus pitied those in distress and tried to help them see their indivdual worth ( Matt 9:36 11: 28-30; 14:14 ) Feeling unworthy of God's love consider ( John 3: 19,20) Consider to ( 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 ) ( Psalm 55:22; Isaiah 57:15 ) Remember practical adjustments in ones life-style can also help one over come a depressive state. when I am depressed I find comfort and hope in reading God's Word regularly ( Rom 12: 12; 15:4 ) So Maria sorry for the lenghty answer...but I am confident it's the right one for me...hopefully you'll agreed. Peace!

Psalm 116:1-9;40:1-3
Matthew 10:30-31; 11:28
John 11:35;14:1;14:16
Ro 8:8 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out Abba! Father!(translated daddy).

I love this verse and Psalm 116. I like the way God would adopt us and we would be His children and He will take care of us. Remember how your dad could make everything right.

Some of the verses I put down don't deal with depression and such, but they tell us to not let our hearts be troubled and that Jesus wept, for His friends. He loves us. He gave His life for us.

Look up the story of Rahab. She was a prostitute. When Jericho fell, she was saved. She got married to Salome. She had a child and became heir to Jesus.

Bible quotes are for those who accept the bible as the Word of God. You haven't stated whether you are a christian or not. But a good verse for pain is Romans 8:28 which says "all things work together for the good for those who love God". Notice it doesn't say all things are good. They're not. Being a christian does not make you immune from trouble. The bible says "the rain falls on the just and the unjust".As long as we're living on a cursed earth, they'll always be problems. All things are not good but for christians they work together for the good. Think about the ingredients of a cake. You wouldn't take a handful of flour and stick it in your mouth and eat it. That's not good. You wouldn't take a handful of sugar and eat it. That's not good either. But if you mix those and other things together in the right proportions and bake it you get a cake and that is good. The ingredients by themselves are not good but working together they are good. Pain is the same way. Problems and trageties are not good but God allows them to build you emotionally and spiritually. You cannot grow without trouble. Remember, it says all things WORK TOGETHER for good to those who love God. If you are not a believer in Christ, turn your life over to him. If you are, trust him. Mathew chapter 6 says that God takes care of the lillies of the field and the sparrows. You're worth much more to him than lillies and sparrows.

Overcome your Depression Without Medication

I've always told people that the Bible can reach different people in different ways. Like the wisdom in Proverbs. Or the beginning
of revealing what spiritual things are in Corinthians. And if
someone is just getting on their feet. Read the Psalms, where
David cried out to God in his sadness.

Let me share a poem I just wrote about depression and Jesus

In the depths of my sorrow
You've dried my tears.
You've calmed the storm of irrational fears

Tears kept inside, you've helped me to weep,
In my fatigue, you allowed me to sleep.

When I was blind, you gave me the sight
I was stuck in the dark, and you turned on the light.

You've given me shelter in the rain
You've held my hand, and eased my pain.

And now for some verses...

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.
Psalms 34:18-19

For men are not cast off by the Lord forever, Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is His unfailing love. Lamentations 3:31-32

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.
Psalms 42:5

Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing; Thou hast loosed my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Jehovah my God, I will give thanks unto thee forever.
Psalms 30: 11-12

A cheerful heart is a good medicine; but a broken spirit dries up the bones.Proverbs 17:22
