have three weeks to live, if you don't do this procedure, your teeth will fall out before the year is over, etc. etc. etc." My mom was given three years and it's been twenty and she's still fine-all the doctor gave us was stress. Dentist told my brother his tooth would fall out by the time he was 23. He's 50 and still has it. And I could go on and on and on with examples and I'm sure you have them too-but if these so-called health care workers really cared about our health they would never say such things-they don't know because they aren't Gods AND they only exaccerbate the problem by adding tremendous stress. So, what are your thoughts and do you have doctor/dentist stories to share?

HAVE YOU HEARD THE WORD "PROFESSIONALS"...Every field such as engineering, computerscience, medicine, law. have PROFESSIONALS...They are the persons who are SPECIALIZED in their field...And they tell you that because of all the knowledge and experience they have in that particular field..
Its true that sometimes things dont happen what they told you would happen(such as if someone told your brother that his tooth would fall out...IF today you meet that dentist and tell him that your bros tooth hasent fallen then THAT DENTIST WOULD BE GLAD IT DIDNT FALL OUT)....Its not about dentist/doctors being GOD its about the fact that the course books or studies they take is a collection of hundreds of years of different researchers research...AND IF A DENTIST or DOCTOR would consider themselves SO ELITE they would NEVER NEED ANY SORT OF DIAGNOSIS..THEY WOULD JUST SEE YOUR DISEASE AND TELL YOU IT IS THIS.......BUT THATS NOT THE WAY.......DENTIST/DOCTOR TELLS YOU ABOUT A CONDITION AFTER IT IS PROPERLY DIAGNOSED...AND WHEN THEY TELL YOU THIS COULD HAPPEN...ITS NOT MANDATORY THAT IT WOULD HAPPEN...ITS JUST MORE CHANCES THAT THAT WOULD HAPPEN(for example. If a doctor detects cancer and he tells the patient that he may die in 10 years or so,its not because that doctor is GOD but its because thats the way human body goes and thats the way cancer spreads...
SO ITS BECAUSE OF THEIR KNOWLEDGE THAT THEY ARE TELLING YOU THIS(After all they didnt waste their 4 years graduation studies and 20 years practice for nothing...)

If you are given non-emergent medical advice, you should consider the problem and the solution, ask yourself if it is reasonable. Research the subject. Get a second opinion or follow-up lab work.

Consider the risks. There is a big difference between damaging a tooth and damaging a vital organ. If one of the risks for not having a procedure is a loss of life, a doctor is obligated to inform you of such. Ask lots of questions, take notes so you don't forget important information...make sure you leave fully informed of the condition. Consider your beleifs and values, they will play a role in the decision you make.

Maybe the medical professionals are not regarding themselves as God, but maybe you are the one who takes their advice as such. It is important that a patient is a proactive member of his or her own health care team. Take some responsibility for your health care decisions. Education is important, and information is widely available (especially in this day and age).

And, quite possible, if the medical professional's "bedside manner" doesn't work for you, try switching doctors. There are some people who prefer a physician who is frank and to the point, while others would like to be "spoon-fed" information in a gentle manner.

Don't really know if that answers your question...but hope it helps.

I don't really understand why you're upset about it. They are giving their opinion but it's not like they're some drunk vagrant in a bar, they are professionals who have seen similar things and therefore their opinion is worth something.
Get 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th opinions if you have to and go with whichever one you like most.
I do advise you to get over this attitude towards doctors though. You need to trust health professionals otherwise it is you who is going to suffer - my friend (who is a nurse) tells me stories all the time about terminally ill patients who could have been saved, but they waited too long to get professional help because they don't trust doctors.

You should just be thankful that they were wrong. You are right that nobody knows everything, but the people you are talking about used their professional knowledge of the situations you are talking about and gave you the best advice that they could.

medical doctors and dentists (to boot as all well being companies, which incorporates nurses) all are attempting to tutor their sufferers. why? using fact we would like our sufferers to be as healthy and as needed as they could be. we make the attempt to furnish our sufferers all the advice and coaching they pick approximately their ailment, harm, drugs, scientific care, and etc. what i think of is going incorrect in yoru case (the place the medical doctors say "in case you dont try this then which will take place") is that those medical doctors/dentists that youre talking to arent making use of suitable communique. they might desire to no longer be telling you in those words. they might desire to be extra well-off, and that they might desire to be direct and supply you any undesirable information or undesirable analysis, yet could gain this in a miles less threatening way. to me, that way seems somewhat threatening and as though the well being practitioner/dentistis making use of scare procedures to get you to do particular issues that he needs you to do. the suitable thank you to ideas-set it particularly is to furnish the affected person the alternative alongside with the advice somewhat than attempting to scare them into making a definite determination. it particularly is physically powerful to steer the guy and tell them what's of their suitable pastime, yet no longer "in case you dont try this then which will take place." its basically undesirable communique.

Personally I don't believe they are trying to play GOD, they are professionals.I'm sure we all have had what we consider BAD ADVICE from professionals, hence the reason I get 2nd and 3rd opinions.
