for the moment, i have not believe in any gods yet. but i do think that some people took their religion way overboard, be it whatever religions they believ in. too much of something is never good.

The proof is in everything you see.
This world is far to complex to have been created without a superior being overseeing the creation. A philosophy professor I had said that "The human eye is like a watch. It is a magnificent creation so complex we do not understand it completely. A watch is also very complex, with different parts working together at the right time in the right place. Can you imagine putting all the pieces of a watch into a box and shaking it until all the pieces became organized and fell into the exact position and starting working? Of course not. Every watch has a watch maker. It is the same with the human eye... It is too magnificent to happen out of chance. It needed a creator."

I believe in God for many reasons. But I have huge problems with organized religion. All vying for our 'membership contributions' at the expense of eternal damnation! Bull! What do they know that anyone else with common sense does not know? If you live a decent, humane life, help others and contribute to the general good you are on the right track, regardless of the fire and brimstone they try to throw at you!
As for the Bible, it was written by man to control man. In a good way. But God did not sit down with so many people over so many centuries and tell them what to write. Nor did he inspire them to write any more than he inspires me or you to do the right thing day to day. And why only TEN commandments? Convenient when using our fingers but I guess there would be many more. Notice that many protect your neighbor's this and that. Early security system? Probably needed, but inspired by God himself? I don't think so.
Proof...... there is none..... Only faith.....

You're such a tough...bad ...SOB. Let me guess, raised by your aunt and uncle with a couple of A_HOLE cousins telling you what to do day and night. Everybody telling you to repent of your sins and come to church(OH NO) ...gotta get up early on Sunday!(HANGOVER) Ouch....Yadda..Yadda..Yadda...You're looking for a reason NOT believe as to believe. Tell you what, go ahead and believe that all of this is happening because of some "BIG BANG" theory. Those people you speak of HIDING behind that warm fuzzy feeling are sacrificing their ENTIRE lives for Christ and dying doing it in some situations. They're out there doing what they believe while you HIDE behind your monitor. GOD BLESS!! (PS) Yes, I do believe.

In response to your question I'd like to answer part of it by sharing a quote... by Abraham Lincoln.
"To believe in the things you can see and touch is no belief at all; but to believe in the unseen is a triumph and a blessing."
Just because you can't see something doesn't mean it isn't there.
It has to do with "Pure Simple Faith."
I am not a religious fanatic, but I do believe in a "Higher Power." Nobody can actually prove that God exists... but can you prove that he doesn't?
Throughout history there have been people who have witnessed "God" presence... .Abraham & Moses for starters. There have been countless miracles. We all have our own beliefs, that is mine.

I do believe in God. My God is the creator. My God did not wage wars, kill innocent women and children, or order unwed girls to be debauched. My God did not turn women to salt pillar's, or strike people down with leprosy for disobeying. My God did not allow Satan to torment Job or punish Jonah by making a big fish swallow him whole. My God did one thing...he created everything.

Where is the Proof that God DOESN'T exist??? I'm afraid the burden of proof falls on the prosecution... not the defense

It gives people comfort/hope.
Without God, someone to judge you and all that, who knows what people would do. They wouldn't feel bad about going to war, and they might kill, because there would be no punihsment.
Its sort of a way to control people... Like when I was younger if I did something bad my parents would tell me "God is always watching you." so I wouldn't do it again.

well, ill say that no one yet has given an accurate total discription of a creator that makes sense to reality, what i chose for myself is a balance between god and goddess, as this seems to pertain to all life and nature around us. life is created in the balance of female to male. not just male, not just female. instead of words that have been misleading and misinterpreted for thousands of years i went to the source. (outside) our creator is in what (IT for lack of better word for neither male or female) it created. not in what man has created with his misleading words. go and study the grass and trees and the birds and bees and then come away with some real knowledge. instead of being manipulated with fears of eternal life of hell. no where do you see any other creature on earth do anything that resembles a fear of hell, then why should we?
