Go to school and get a degree in art and photography. Take a few business courses along with it. Those will give you some pretty good marketing credentials for companies and private photography.

I think if you just get some classes under your belt for skill and technique, then get a portfollio together--you can get a job freelancing. Or you can work for an agency, but usually they want some kind of BA or AA. Look local in the yellow pages for photography schools. I live near Brooks Institute for Photography-Im planning on going to some weekend workshops (if they have them!)

You could take basic photography classes at a community or junior college so you learn about technique. Those classes will also help you in putting together a portfolio of your work so you can submit it to companies or publications looking for a photographer.
Just keep taking pics and keep a portfolio with your best work. You can always continue to submit your work to news outlets or publications, eventually they might publish some of your work which will help you get noticed.

Look into a photography class at the community college, and get a job in a one hour photo part time to get started. Be determined, and have passion for it. That's what makes a good photographer...and a camera. hehehe! Good luck!!

Most colleges offer extension courses in photography. Or go to your nearest photography shop and ask the manager or owner for assistance in this field.

First, master the craft (no easy task). It will take a lot of specialized training and experience. Then, you have to effectively market yourself to get clients. You also have to have business savvy.
