I don't know, that is a good question. If you have someone that is smart, but doesn't have common sense than you might have to explain simple things to them all the time because they just won't get the "easy" things. On the other hand if there is someone who has common sense but is smart, they might have bad grammer, or might misspell things all the time which would also be annoying. That one would be hard. I think I will go with choice "C" and pick someone who has a little bit of both!

You are so wrong if you think that if you are smart common sense wont be that hard to catch on to. The problem with "smart" people (like book smart) is that they think they know everything, so when it comes to common sense, they are usually really lacking. When I was in high school, my science teacher told one of the kids with the highest GPA that he had the common sense of a brick. These "smart" people will try to argue a point till they're blue in the face, even if they are wrong, because they think if they argue it enough they will be right.
I'd rather have someone with common sense. People with common sense tend to get by in life a lot easier because they know what to do and what not to do in most situations... and eventually they tend to be "smarter" because they acutally think about things instead of just thinking they know everything.

i would rather have someone with common sense, i have seen some people with PH.D's that lacked the common sense to tie their own shoes, what i mean was that they were pretty much brain dead except for their book smarts, and over time they really didn't pick up much in the common sense area either.
a person with common sense can always memorize at least some facts out of a book if not the whole book and consider themselves smarter than they used to be

The two are nothing alike. Being smart does not make you have common sense. I know lots of people who are smart but have absolutely no common sense. I have a lot of common sense and I'm not too dumb either....lol

I would want someone who would be able to have a steady conversation with me and understand what I am saying. I am an intelligent individual. I enjoy having conversations in which both parties can be involved... this doesn't mean that I expect the guy I am with to understand everything I say down to the definition, but at least that he understand the general idea. I also want someone who can keep up with my sense of humor and my optimism. As long as the guy I am with has enough intelligence to keep a coherent conversation running and enough common sense to himself (or me) out of harms way so we could live our lives together, then I know that everything would be fine.

I would have to go with common sense because I have met people who were smart with facts but not enough common sense to apply it to anything.

I'm not sure what you're saying, but I think I would prefer the smart person who doesn't have common sense, I'd have to explain some things to him, and I wouldn't feel so intimidated by his intelligence.

Either you have common sense or you do not. It does not come automatically with being smart.
My sister has an IQ that is through the roof, but I can't believe they allow her to cross the street half the time - she has NO common sense whatsoever and she is now in her 40's and she STILL hasn't developed any.
Give me good ol' common sense any time.

O\I've known lots of book-smart people who have zero common sense. I'd go for the person who has commoin sense, becuase it leads to happiness and acceptance and finding good in all. Booksmart people daydream, and though they might flaunt facts, they can';t tie a tie or show up on time places.

common sense...u can always talk your way out of anything. smart is good too, but from experience, those kinds of ppl have a tendency to be very slow and lack common sense. does that make sense?
