Have you been checked for diabetes?
Is it random or when you move a certain way?
It could be from poor circulation.

Have you just quit taking a medicine lately. Could be reaction, need to talk withyour doctor.
Have you had any cuts or falls that would cause nerve damage?
Are you holding your instrument or body in one position for over 30 minutes at a time. Don't do that, move a bit , like tense and untense while you are holding positions during practice.
Do you play video games and are tensing up while you play or holding your body incorrectly. Move around every 15 minutes, and for the next week or two try to stay off of the computer. 3 days and you will notice improvement .

Tell your guardian or health care provider about the pain. With more details than outlined here. They could check your electrolyte levels ...
Drink plenty of fluids and switch things up.

it could be brought on by several things. just because you have been doing this outdoors for three years does not mean you wont eventually experience this "pin prick" sensation. not sure if the term is right but it might be "prickly heat" rash.

liver or kidney disease can also bring on this sensation, but since you are out in the heat when it happens, that is most likely the cause. also, has the detergent you wash your clothes in recently changed? what about uniforms, have they recently changed what they are made of?

if you say no to the last two questions, chances are it's a heat rash. you can also have this sensation when stressed.

(your allergies also change every 7 years)

You could have a pinched nerve in your spine. Have your folks check in with a chiropractor or maybe your school's sport therapist. Something is not working right and you should not be suffering all the time.

Your band director have some good suggestions because I bet this complaint is nothing new to him.

Contact your doctor immediately.
This could just be a soft tissue injury (something caused by repetitive motions) or it could be a sign of a more serious condition. Get your butt in to see a doctor.
