depends...on you and your situation. How much time do you have? How about patcience? If you have time to train, walk, etc adog...then i would go that way. BUt if you want a pet that can be loving t o you when you have time for them a cat. They require less training and attention. I personally love them both.

I grew up a dog person, but around age 12 we started getting cats, too. I can't choose one over another, but if you are looking for which is the better animal for your lifestyle, consider the following:

1) Do you live in a small place w/ no yard?

2) Are you not going to be around the animal a lot?

3) Do you like the animal to be dependent or independent?

4) Are you looking for a buddy to hang out with you all day?

I could go on, but basically if you want somebody to worship you and are prepared to spend lots of time with it; get a dog.

If you want a mystery and not to have to get up in the middle of the night to walk it, or are not around a lot; get a cat.

If you like both, get both, just make sure that they grow up around each other to avoid eventual attempts at eating one another. I've had huge dogs, little cats, lizards, fish, birds, frogs, toads, hermit crabs, rats, etc. etc. all at the same time and all of them living harmoniously.

It depends because if you enjoy a companion that will sleep right next to you when you are watching t.v. and are esayier to care for you would want a cat.

if you want a ompanion that you can go anywhere with and is a little more to take care of you should get a dog.

i have a cat and a dog but i got them at two different times and they don't really get along. but it you want to can get a puppy and a kitty so the grow up to like eachother that would be good!

dogs, i have both a cat and dog, my cat is 3, is like a friend shes not always there when you need her shes only there when she needs you even though i also love her, more of my love gose to my dog though,my minature schnuzer is 1 years old, she is like my daughture allways there when i need her never trys to run away, i can take her on a lesh where ever with me, she even follows me without a lesh, i like to go jogging with her in the morning. if you get a dog though i suggest minature or toy because minatures and toys have about 18 years to spend with you on earth, but dont worry alot more in the world after death. I suggest a min schnuzer since you appear to be a guy get a salt and pepper like mine they make great gard dogs and will gard you to the end and have the personality of a big dog but live alot longer

If your a lazy person, get a cat. If your active and like to have fun with animals, get a dog. A dog will always be by your side no matter what. A dog lives to please it's owner .A cat lives to eat, sleep, and roam to get layed. A cat will come to you to be petted or fed. Owners are compatible to the animal they keep company with.

I personally like dogs. I have had both cats and dogs, but my german shepherds are the best!

They do take more time than cats.

Cats are great too, but they are much more independent!

a cat is the better pet because they are elegant and graceful and are natural born hunters they get rid of rodents if you have any and and can fend for themselves if they need to eat but a dog can,t it relies to much on it,s master and besides you own a dog but a cat owns you

Depends on your lifestyle. Dogs need more attention than cats. Cats are more independant. I would have to say it depends on how often you are home and so on. If you are NEVER home then get something more contained such as a Hamster, Gerbil, ...etc....
