First and foremost - this is how you feel inside. You are the only one who can change it. What would make you feel like you're throwing yourself at them?

Imagine for a second. youcam up to a guy and said "hi, My name is So-and-so. I saw your smile from the other end of the room" And he goes like, "Why, you happen to have the voice of the lady of my dreams. Are you her, by any chance?" Whould you feel like you thrown yourself at him? Magically, no!

Imagine another one: "hi, how are you" and he wouldn't even say anything more than "Hi" with some hesitation. Would you feel like you thrown yourself at him? Strangely, yes.

In these two examples, the difference is his reaction that made you feel bad or good. Maybe, it is your anticipation of bad reaction that makes you feel "what if I'm throwing myself at them - that looks bad".

The point I'm trying to make - just say to them what you want to say. Anticipate good reaction. If reaction is bad - well, walk away, he's not interested and that's OK. The fact that he might be not interested doesn't imply you are uniteresting person.

That one answer is way too long. If you find a hottie, say hello and ask him a few questions. You'll get the sense reallly quick if he's interested or not.
Good luck.
