OMG your question almost made me cry !! Grandmothers are the best people in the world aren't they ?!! I think it would be perfectly ok if you were to frame your favourite picture of your grandmother and place it where her headstone would be, maybe even a collage of photos from her life with her family in it would be nice for everyone who visits her. Then, in another frame, put the words of her favourite poem, or a tribute written about her life, or her favourite song, something that really speaks to you of memories with your precious grandmother. I can just feel the huge love you have for your grandmother, God Bless Her and You, Sandra xoxo

Most cemeteries do not object to something edging the grave site so long as people are not likely to hurt themselves when passing. Although a little fence is a nice idea, all it needs is one person to catch their leg on it and it will be removed.

A simple, but effective solution that I have seen in my country is to 'fence' off the grave with white stones, if you collect stones of a similar size to each other and edge the grave with them - nobody will walk on the grave.

You could then plant a few flowers on her grave so it will look like a little garden.

I hope this helps.

I had a friend die and first there was no marker (they were waiting for a stone to be made) and then when I told the people at the funeral place they said they would take care of it and put someone else's name there on a temp plate. I then put flowers and a small stuffed cat there to mark it only to have them mowed over within the next few days.

I would put a potted plant that can't be run over or stepped on or a small (maybe foot or two tall) statue. I doubt they would allow a small fence or anything that would block a mower or a weed wacker.

the best and most impressive is to plant a tree
you nail a copper l plate with the details onto the tree
this is legal all over the world
we have checked that out

if every one did this we would have sacred orchards
instead of scary concrete graveyards

you can also be totaly unoriginal and add a head stone
and put a little fence around it
boo

You can get little statues - angels, doves, and the like - from the headstone supplier. Personally, though, I'd suggest flowers. You can plant a carpet of daffodils for under $30, and they'll bloom spring after spring with very minimal attention - the occasional dose of bonemeal or other plant food.

A little fence would be nice. Maybe with some flowers planted next to it if the cemetary permits. You might also consider getting a little decorative birdhouse and a small shepard's hook to hang it from.

Before we got a headstone for my son's grave we had one of those metal stand thingys that stuck into the ground with a fake wreath on it that said son. That worked well.

You can buy a really pretty stone angel and place it in the middle or four at the corners.. putting a fence would not work... You just don't fence a resting place...

Hmmm. Cemetaries have a lot of rules and regulations. The best thing to do might be to just go ahead and invest in a head stone. You can probably get one that's not too fancy for about 500.00
