Both of my ears have built up ear wax and i know this because when i use a cotton swab to clean them they are caked with ear wax. I have a hard time hearing because of this.

I work with people suffering sensory loss, both vision and hearing so i have been asked this question before. It is dangerous to put anything in your ear and using a cotton bud is one of the worst things you can do for wax build up as it pushes the wax closer to the ear drum and can cause the ear canal to block. If you want to try something yourself, tilt your head slightly sideways in the shower and let the warm water run through (not high pressure here). Wax naturally works its way out of the ear canal. If you are having a problem such as a blocked ear, your GP will use a syringe (no needle) filled with a saline solution and clean your ear with this but don't do this at home as you can damage the ear drum.

Ear candles don't work, what you think is ear wax coming out is actually the wax from the candle being drawn up the cavity. They feel nice but thats about all they are good for (told to me by and audiologist during a training session)

Peroxide, glycerine. There's a product called Debrox that does the same thing, but it's not a "home" remedy. Eventually you'll flush out the earwax with water (Most earwax removal kits come with a rubber bulb that holds water, you squeeze it out of the narrow syringe-like end)

Unfortunately if there's a big buildup, you may need to keep using drops for several days to loosen it up enough for the flushing to work. Of course during that time your hearing will get worse since you're turning the hardened wax into a big liquid glob that will flow into any spaces that might have been clear... So it gets worse before it gets better.

There is something called "ear candling" which I have tried once to remove ear wax. It really works well, but I don't know how healthy it is to remove so much wax from your ear. It made my ears feel a little sensitive. Check the website below to get an idea of how it works.

drugstores sell a kit for the removal of ear wax. It contains a liquid that softens the wax and a syringe to flush the wax away using water. Just a word of caution-use water that is body temperature, hot or cold is disastrous. Just read some of the other advice offered you, some of it seems dangerous.

I was in GNC the other day and they had these ear wax candles near the register. I asked the clerk about them and he said you put on end of the candle in your ear and light the other end and it creates a vaccuum and sucks the gunk out of your ear.
I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS ACTUALLY WORKS OR NOT. I would highly recommend contacting GNC about this product, or do some research on the web. Good luck

There is also ear candling that most salons offer. It works great to get that tough built up wax out. It is even good for ear infections. Ask your salon or look it up on the internet.

i have heard hydrogen peroxide. but the absolute best thing i have ever found is ear wax candles. they come in bees wax and parrifin. i use parrifin and you may need a helper but totally worth it. they are cone shaped and create a very mild vortex and literally suck out chunks of ear wax. truely awesome.

get your ears conned It is also called ear candling. Most massage therapist or Reiki practitioners can do it. If not go to any natural health food store and ask if they know a holistic practitioner to do it. It is very very helpful and all natural.
