The soul is eternal. The soul gets the body, not the body the soul. The soul gets the body at its own choosing. Some souls choose the body at conception while others wait until a few hours after birth.
Remember always: The Soul is Eternal with neither a beginning nor an end.

I would definately believe "before birth", because the soul is supposed to encompass the mind, will, and emotions. Unborn children have brainwaves as early as 40 days after conception. They have been observed in activities (thumb sucking, kicking, etc.) that involve choosing particular muscles, and in sleeping, complete with REM activity (indicates dreaming). Ultrasound pictures have demonstrated that the fetus can respond to unpleasant stimuli--the child feels pain, as early as 4 months.
I don't know exactly when my soul actually entered this body. Can't give you a date/time. I just know that now that I have a soul, I really don't want to loose it.

BEFORE BIRTH: there is a force of energy that becomes a part of the conception and that is the spirit.
The soul is the growth of the combination of the spirit and the things that are experience by the spirit in the body before the body gives it up.

I have read books about the soul being put into the body somewhere in between conception and birth. Perhaps it could be when we first feel the movement of the baby.

The soul is eternal and is existing prior to conception when it enters into the womb through the particle of male semen during intercourse. The Srimad Bhagavatam Purana gives the following information:-
Canto 3 Chapter 31 Verse 1
The Personality of Godhead said: Under the supervision of the Supreme Lord and according to the result of his work, the living entity, the soul, is made to enter into the womb of a woman through the particle of male semen to assume a particular type of body.

I think at conception. That is where it all starts.Birth is just moving from one place to another.Where in the birthing process would we get a soul? On the way down the birth canal or when we stick our head out or when we take our first breath?

I firmly believe that the Soul is started upon conception. The entire embryo, has the tiny particles of life. Our Soul is our inner life. I firmly believe that when we die, it is our Soul , that ascends to Heaven . That is why I am against abortion, because the embryo, contains the Soul. Our Soul is a humans beginning and end to our lives.

You guessed right...at Conception.
That is the whole idea behind a proper valid marriage and it being open to the conception of life. The marriage bed involved the married couple of man and woman and also God.
At conception the sperm meets the egg and at the same time God adds the soul. Christ told us, I knew you before you were in your mother's womb.
We also see in Luke when Mary approached Elizabeth...her unborn child lept with joy.
The unborn are real people and to abort them is murder.

When the developing fetus assumes definite human form. That is a good indication that a soul has entered the body and will help guide the development of the body according to its own need for coming into this world.
