The best dog/puppy food is the Wellness brand, make of all natural ingredients, human grade, no junk like animal by products, corn, soy, wheat and anything artificial. I buy the Wellness Super5Mix Chicken dry formula. Dry is better less plaque buildup.

Since I have 2 very small dogs, I buy the 15lb and store it in an airtight container(Vittles Vault sold at the same website) to make it bug free and fresh.

Natural choice is a good food but I don't trust Nutro anymore due to the problems they had during the food recalls. They are trying to hard to get business and I personally think they are too expensive for the medium grade food that they have. That being said, I do trust the Nutro Ultra Holistic. It just has a better "smell" to me and it is better ingredients but it too is very expensive. Canidae was my fave til they changed their formula in a very sneaky way and didn't tell anyone or put it on their packaging. SSSOOOoooo, I have found a great food that I've decided will be my dog's new food. Wellness adult. He had the Just for Puppy and loved it but that was when I still liked the Canidae company. I will be mixing the adult and small breed adult together for a mix that I feel is best for my dog. So in answer to your question, yes it's a good food but not great and for the same kind of money, you can have the best.

Don't feed him any food found in a grocery store, they are filled with loads of by-products (which is junk).

Go to a pet shop and feed him the best food you can afford, it will be better for you and your pup in the long run. Feed him a healthy diet from the start and he will be healthier and will require fewer vet visits. Also with the premium foods you feed quite a bit less food so there is less waste to pick up.

Some of the better brands are:
Natural Balance
Solid Gold
California Natural
Fromm
Wellness
Nature's Variety
Timberwolf
Innova

Look for a dog food that has several meat products in the first of the ingredients. Science Diet is like number one on the list of best dog foods. Iams is also very high quality, and a little more affordable than science diet. Ask your vet for advice on the best food before you make a decision. Some dogs may need different diets than others

My personal preference is IAMS-i have tried numerous other kinds over the years and IAMS seem to have what my dog needs. You can try IAMS for puppies, plus they have all different kinds for aging dogs, young dogs, puppies, overwieght adult dogs, etc. Try a small bag at first to see how the puppy will tolerate it, and be sure to read the directions on how much to feed. Also, try not to give the puppy any people food, it does nothing good for its digestion system. Good Luck!!

Science diet is good, I also think Purina One and most purina products are good.
I have never given my dogs vitamins.

In my family, we have nearly always had dogs and the foods they liked most are / were:

-Tuna
-String cheese
-Kibbles n bits
-Milkbones

With kibbles and bits as the primary food, use milkbones as a training treat, like one every time they pee outside. Also, if your dog needs meds, hide them in the string cheese or grind them up into tuna if your dog is clever and eats around the pill.
