I just dealt with this with my 2 daughters...I first went and bought "Rid" brand shampoo....that kills the live lice....it claims that it kills the eggs...but it doesn't...then you have to go through section by section and get all the eggs (nits they call them)....they can't be combed out...they stick right to the hair...usually found closer to the scalp. Some look brown...some more white...then you should vacuum furniture, wash your bedding, soak brushes, hair accessories in very hot water, etc. I've went through my daughter's hair numerous times (each time it took over 2 hours, she has long hair) ....and each time found eggs that I'd missed...they are hard to see...after 7-10 days you should re-shampoo with the Rid in case there are any that have hatched. If you don't treat them, and get all the eggs or the problem will just keep haunting you....good luck!!!

You need to purchase a lice shampoo and follow directions. Usually drug stores carry this. You will also want to purchase an upholstery spray for lice and spray your home. All bed lines, pillows, stuffed animals need to be washed in hot water. You are going to have to have someone pick the nits (eggs) off of the hair and scalp. If you don't remove the nits, the eggs will hatch and reinfestation will occur. The shampoo only kills live lice, not the nits and there is no shampoo that will prevent lice. Never share hair brushes or hats as these are common ways of transferring the lice.

You need to get a special medicated shampoo from a pharmacy, and a lice comb.

The shampoo will kill the adults, then you need to get the eggs out of your hair with the special comb. It is best to have someone help you with the comb, because if you leave any they might grow back.

Then you need to wash anything that has come into contact with your head - bedding, hats, brushes etc.

Go to the drugstore and get RID shampoo. Be careful if you are in the litchen or a smoker. It is highly flammable. You put it on and leave it on for however long the directions say. You then comb the dead lice out with a lice comb.

They also make a spray that you can spray your sheets, couch, or anything else that your body has touched. Since your a guy the best thing to do is wash your hair, use the comb, then have someone cut your hair.

With girls its a little harder because we like our long hair and it takes forever to get that comb through it. I don't remember what brand it is but there is one that has everything in a kit. Try Wal-greens, CVS, Eckerds, Etc.

Also you have to wait 7-10 days after you do the 1st wash then do the second.

You get special medicated shampoo from the pharmacy and also you need to thoroughly clean everything in your house and in car wherever you have been to make sure that you have gotten all the lice and their eggs. If not they'll be back again.

Rid or Nix are two good anti lice shampoo products available at wal mart or drug stores without prescription

You can get someone to pick them out if you wish, but it is not easy, and you must be very thorough to get all the adults and their nits (eggs).

You can cover your head with mayonnaise. Sleep with it in overnight. The next morning you should wash your hair with DAWN dish washing detergent. Wash your bedsheets in hot water you can add Lysol (the liquid kind that you use for floors). You then add equal parts of Lysol and water to a spray bottle and use the spray for furniture, etc.
