I went to a cosmetic dentist, and he found a cavity. Does it get filled, fixed, or what?

You go to a regular dentist, they drill out around the cavity to get rid of the bad parts, then they fill the hole that they made. It is really not a big deal to go through.

depends on how deep the cavity is. if it's not too deep, they'll just scrape the bad parts away. If it's deep, they'll drill, scrape and wash, then finally fill it up.

If it doesn't get filled it will grow and eventually start hurting. So get it fixed now while it's small.

They drill it and fill the hole, with either a silver or porcelain filling.
